   I really loved this place overall. The room was huge, very comfortable, and quite clean. The people running it are incredibly nice, but there are a couple of caveats. First, reception is not staffed during the hours it says it is. The gentleman’s phone number is posted, but it is not one I can call on my wireless plan, so that made things a little awkward. Secondly, I had actually booked a room instead of camping so that I would have good WiFi and a good looking place for a job interview. Unfortunately, the router situation at this place is way below what is needed. Even right by the office I only had enough connection for audio, and even that cut out at times. Several times, it dropped entirely. I’m pretty sure it cost me the job. So, if you need really good, stable internet, this is not the place. Other than those two things, this place was incredible! Highly recommend!!

   There are wet brown stains on the carpet, puddle of water coming from gosh knows where in the bathroom, no extra blankets, parking is a nightmare, and we have had to wash everything before we use it in the kitchen because its been dirty or smudged with something. Wifi is awful, keeps dropping out. Thudding noise coming from outside and road noise, kids haven't slept well as the blinds don't fit over the windows and light pours through, it's kept me up n down all night.

   Great place to stay. Kid friendly. Rooms were cleaned every day. Our room had a spa bath and plenty of room. Great location, very central. The coffee club is right next door, hell pizza just down the road, across the road from a nice bakery and BP petrol station. Only a 5 minute walk to the central of town. The best service! Very kind. I highly recommend staying here

   Worst experience! If i could give 0 i would. wouldn’t stay here again if you paid me to. Rude and arrogant staff, Very dirty rooms, mould in the shower and sink. Dirty linen, so much so we had to buy our own pillow cases and wear thongs in the bathroom and shower with the fear of catching a disease. the linen had mould and make up from previous guests, makes you wonder did they even change the sheets for us. Floor hadn’t been vacuumed and dust everywhere. When we complained about the state of the motel he didn’t care refused to have a look and believed that his cleaners were doing their job, he simply replied with don’t stay here again. Owners are liars! They can’t even make a bed properly so wouldn’t trust them to do a good job at cleaning the place, maybe they just go inside and watch tv for 10 minutes pretending to clean. Mould doesn’t just show up in a few days, mould is created from the lack of cleanliness over a long period of time! The cleaners didn’t even know what bleach was when we approached them asking them to clean it, i think that says enough! Photos have been posted with evidence so you can’t sit there and lie and say it was clean when the photos suggest otherwise. People like you running establishments like this deserve to be audited and shut down, you’re too money hungry to care about anyone else but yourselves, wonder how clean your home is if you thought these rooms were clean. We are regular visitors to New Zealand with family all over the North Island and have never experienced such a disgusting Motel and more importantly disrespectful staff, you would think they would be nice and accommodating considering without paying clients they have nothing to run! definitely have had change of ownership, don’t trust the previous reviews there is a reason they are from months ago and years ago.

   We were a family of 6 adults & 6 month old baby: We have family in Hastings and therefore return to visit frequently. Three rooms were booked for 5 nights 13 Jan to 18 Jan 2023. 1 star is excessive as they deserve negative stars. All three rooms were described as follows: 1. Musky, dirty smell. The linen was not white but off white. First time I’ve experienced this. 2. The Linen was soiled, stained, mascara, blood, black mould. Arrrgh!!! 3. The cleaners remade the beds daily, however did not vacuum or clean the bathrooms, had other peoples toilet stains. 4. Broken chains in the roller blinds and what was not broken was not secured. 5. No extraction in the bathrooms, even with the window wide open which prevented any privacy, the room would still steam up, requiring the use of the 50 year old fixed hair dryer to dry the mirror. 6. The black, toxic mould was everywhere in the bathrooms (all three bathrooms) The sinks, the showers. We all had to wear thongs for fear of getting some disease. 7. One of the rooms had ants trailing from the spa to the stairwell. 8. Insufficient toilet paper, when we called the reception, no one answered and no one answered the after hours numbers. We then had to drive to the supermarket to buy toilet paper and bleach to clean the shower bases and sinks. 9. When we approached the Receptionist, he did not care. We asked him to have a look and he did not want to. Believed his cleaners instead. Told us to stay elsewhere next time!!!!!! 10. Considered that the NZ$2700 we spent at this location was a complete waste of money. We’ve never been treated in this manner as a guest, totally disrespectful and arrogant people who operate this establishment. 11. Gun shots were heard on several nights, lots of police as well. Sadly not the right end of town to be accommodated in. 12. The only reason we chose this place was the reviews. Lies, Lies, and only Lies. I believe it may have changed ownership a while ago and the good reviews were obviously the previous owners........... I would never again pay to sleep in such a dirty and toxic establishment.
