This was a a game of two halves. A local introduced us to this cafe as they said the coffee was great. They were right - we enjoyed a great cup of coffee with a well cooked scone and pleasant service. So, we returned the next day for a couple of takeaway flat whites. The service was slow, we waited 15 minutes for our coffees. Perhaps, because of the stressed service, the coffee was awful. They tasted like cups of warm milk with no detectable coffee flavour at all. I would have taken them back but we had already driven away and I didn't fancy another 15 minute wait. We ended up throwing them away without finishing them. So, my recommendation, is consistency. A coffee roastery has to have good coffee, even if everything else goes to hell that day.
Today, I visited Allpresso, a cafe I usually enjoy for its positive atmosphere. Unfortunately, my experience was marred by a mix-up with my order. I requested to have my coffee in the cafe, but the waiter brought it in a takeaway cup. This was disappointing, especially after a frustrating experience at another coffee shop earlier in the day, which left me feeling a bit on edge. I reacted somewhat emotionally and expressed my frustration to the waiter, perhaps more aggressively than intended due to my earlier experience. However, the waiter, a polite young woman, responded calmly and professionally, offering to fix the mistake. I appreciated her respectful and kind demeanor, which stood out compared to other experiences I've had in Mosgiel. Despite the error, which might have been due to miscommunication, her response showed genuine care. As a Black person living in Mosgiel, I sometimes face challenges that heighten my sensitivity to such situations. While this visit wasn’t perfect, Allpresso remains a place where I generally feel respected. I hope future visits will avoid similar mix-ups, but I commend the staff for their professionalism in handling my concerns.
This cafe is all heart. I came as a recommendation and could not resist coming back. The food, the atmosphere and the service was just top drawer. I highly recommend Helen and her team as a core part of the Cafe culture here in Dunedin. I so wish they were in Wellington.
FLAT WHITES & SANDWICHES - Recommended here. The flat whites were delicious - I love their coffee blend they use, it blends so well with the milk and they make it stronger in coffee flavour. The sandwiches were deliciously toasted and the flavours were so good. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was cozy as a contrast to the cold weather outside. I will be back!

Hi just like to show my appreciation to the lovely very helpful lady who helped me with my coffee selection Feb24th .I told her where i had drank allpress coffee after i couldnt decide what beans to buy .I was most impressed that she went the extra mile to see what beans this cafe used .with this information i selected my choice and she ground them for me great to see old school values still exsist . If the manager would like to thank this lady on my behalf she wore glasses and wore her hair tied back in a bun .Thanking you Barry Hewitt
Don't take you money here to spend I just wanted a green juice I went to pay cash they would not except cash due to covid If they were that worried none of the staff were wearing masks it's been so long aren't we over the boaring covid
Friendly staff. Cosy cafe. Cheese roll was so cheesy, fresh and yum. Cheese scone was toasted just perfect. Great coffee!!
Great little coffee roasters in Dunedin. We came in for a quick bite to eat (had the eggs and soldiers, which was great) and coffees to go. Their coffee is stellar, I love the fact they are the roasters and can occasionally see them roasting the beans there. We would definitely stop by here when in Dunedin again.
