Ordered the teriyaki Salmon bento on ubereats and it looks terrible, which is inexcusable for a BENTO BOX, the whole point of which is to be taken out. It didn’t even come in an actual bento box, and all the food were squished together, making a mess.
I always have the best meal because of the nicest lady staff here. i cant eat raw fish but she is very patient with me and torches my food upon request. hikari is my fave because of the kind lady
Despite the word bar in the restaurant name, there are no alcohols sold here. Main focus for protein are chicken and seafood although pork is also served. Free soba and refillable so a great place for students. Friendly staff and appetizing food. Good value for money.

The family LOVED their experience here! The kids chose bento boxes and really appreciated the selection and amount of food. My husband shared his katsu chicken which was a hit also! Outstanding food & would return in a heartbeat if we lived in Dunedin!
Ohhh yummo we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. We shared a plate of various sushi bites, followed by a salmon bento, and a salmon salad... with complimentary miso soup. Everything was delicious, friendly staff, and reasonable prices... Awesomeness!!! Arigato
Visit Hikari for lunch one Sunday. They have freshly made sushi in the cabinet or you can order off the menu. They have a few tables so you can easily sit inside and eat or takeaway. We ordered the bento meals. The portion sizes were good, however it didn’t it wasn’t the most authentic Japanese food. The karaage chicken was tasty, but again this appears to be a fusion of Japanese and Korean foods. The meals were well priced and service friendly. If you aren’t too picky and not wanting truly authentic Japanese, then you’ll enjoy Hikari.
Happy tummy always. Never fail to satisfy my cravings. Wide and good selection of sushi. There is a ‘meal of the day’ that is on special price which is pretty good.
