   I have an older home Cira 1905, the first winter I spent in it was horrible, two fires going three reverse cycle air conditioners going and it was still freezing! I contacted NZ foam and after some measurements, some photos of the underfloor crawl space and a few photos they sent out Rob, who was fantastic and worked out the best solution they could provide. Turns out even though I had insulation batts under the house, batts don’t stop the drafts, Rob suggested they spray over the batts getting a vapour seal and further insulation to what I had. Rob and Chris came out over a couple of days and installed the underfloor foam. They were absolutely fantastic. The difference in the insulation/temp I swear I could feel that first night, even though it was late summer and reasonably pleasant, especially in the bathrooms. I am now sitting in a warm home with one fireplace going and barely any use of the air conditioning. In the interests of transparency, I did also have the walls insulated around the same time, but from the drafts I used to get from the bathroom floor, I don’t think the wall insulation would have made any difference without the underfloor foam. The bathroom, my son used to call the deep freeze, which was a testament to one’s willpower in getting undressed for a shower, is now toasty warm. My electricity bills last winter were up around five hundred dollars a months, I think they won’t be much different from my summer bills now. If so, I’m looking at not only being completely warm and comfortable in my home, but also the project paying for itself within 5-6 years in saved electricity costs’ (not even counting what I’ll save in firewood). If you are on the fence, I’d recommend you do it sooner rather than later.

   We have a shipping container home which has cavities and batts, but condensation in the ceiling cavity was an issue. NZ foam was able to spray the underfloor and on top of the roof to achieve much greater insulation. The guys were working in some very trying weather conditions and didn’t give up until the job was done. Thanks so much, would highly recommend.
