Had the absolute best meal here. Everyone at my table agreed the food was delicious. Such lovely staff and just a good vibe all around :) especially loved the Kathmandu fried tofu dish. Thanks so much!
Loved everything about this place! Great atmosphere and the food was amazing. We were a group 9 so we ordered several dishes to share and they were all incredible (special mention for the goat curry and the Key Lime pie!) Great service and top points all round, definitely a place to recommend.
We almost missed this place as we couldn't find the entrance (if you enter by Oxford St, its right down the stairs). We ordered the momo dumplings, thukpa and fried chicken. I was blown away by the quality of the food. Every dish was perfectly balanced, packed with the right amount of flavor and genuinely soul-satisfying. It felt like I was transported to heaven. The other review below was right about trancending earthly experience (I only read it after I came home lol). This is Christchurch's best kept secret!!! 10/10
I love everything about Sherpa Kai! The food, atmosphere and service are always so great. We love coming here for dinner especially in the winter. The key lime pie is incredible!!!
Funky little place, food is great. Waiter was on his own when I was there but managed to run the bar, take orders and deliver food to a busy restaurant. The entrance is a little hard to find as it is on via the entrance on the main road. Cool live jazz was playing while we ate. A little hard to hear the conversation at the table over the jazz, but it was fine as I didn't really like the people I was out with. They were ok I guess but the jazz was better.
Great food. Dual, rice, nan bread, momos. Nice ambiance in the room. roaring fire. nice beer whilst waiting for take away.
Loop musician was the highlight on the Sat night I attended. If there was no food or drinks, I would consider going for that alone. Off the charts good. Thay said, it is exactly what you would expect for where and what it is. Staff and food did not disappoint. Would definitely go back and recommend it to others. If you are too uptight and expect fast service, go to micky d"s, but if you want to take in the ambiance of the historical building and location with locals, I can't imagine a better way to spend a Saturday night in Lyttleton. It was an experience to remember for those who are not pretentious and like to mingle with the locals.
Had the momo and pork belly dish, both were full of flavour. The pork belly dish was unique and memorable, the rice was a bit over cooked but overall was a good meal.
The restaurant is inside the historic British hotel on the corner. Entry is from the main road so a little confusing as it is not signed ... if not a local like me. Great atmosphere not too noisy. We had fun reading the handwriting on the menu. Staff helpful on selections and made sure we had enough to eat and drink.
