   I should have looked at the reviews properly... Sadly I have to agree with the other negative reviews - it felt rushed and not worth the money ($160 for a curly cut and wash and deep condition which was supposed to take an hour and I was in and out in 25 minutes). I wasn't really asked too much what I wanted and I was happy to trust the expert but I did ask for the minimum possible to be cutting off as I have been growing my hair for years - she layered it a lot, and cut of heaps of my hair which will take a long time to grow back. Really unhappy about that. It doesn't look as good if I wear it how I usually would and can't wear it fully out as the shape is all wrong for my tighter curls. It is nice and soft however.

   Great experience having my hair cut today. So lovely to find a salon that specializes in curly hair. Nadia is both friendly and professional. I’m very happy with the cut and colour she gave me and appreciated her useful advice for when I’m offshore and away from hairdressers! Love the warm salon atmosphere and it was nice to chat with other happy customers as well.

   I've been a client at Amala for about 4 years. Nadia always gives me practical advice on looking after and styling my (often difficult) curly hair - Lots of tips and tricks. Nadia is cautious about doing anything that will damage my hair. Love that the salon is small and peaceful too!

   Quite disappointed to say the least. I hugely regret booking Nadia after my usual was on maternity leave. She didn’t listen, rushed through and gave appalling cuts much unlike what was asked. My personal cut I didn’t feel hugely disappointed, it was a touch shorter than I’d asked but I didn’t care too much. I then booked in my son (to be fair they state they don’t usually do kids) however Nadia had explained to me that she personally is great with kids I’d just have to pay adult pricing. I just wanted my curly kid to get a good curly cut so went ahead. Well he’s got no curls on his head now. I showed a picture of his last haircut saying I wanted that again she responded okay sure so keep it long. Let the photos speak to that. I reached out and only got defensive responses with no desire to fix or refund. According to her in a few weeks his hair is going to look like my requested photo. The hacking was so fast and despite me explaining prior to the apt that my son struggles with hairdressers and he had some hard nos like hairdryer, buzzer, spray bottle she still tried to use these. She was unable to cut his hair on my knee which from other experiences is a pretty expected thing to happen in a kids cut. The whole thing has traumatised the kid and myself more from haircuts. Could have just said no when I asked if you do kids.saved us the money, crap cut, tears

   I got the special curly hair cut from Nadia and have never had such a positive experience involving my hairs. I’ve had such bad experiences in salons when it comes to my curls and porosity but Nadia not only shaped and cut my hair the best it’s ever seen but had so much knowledge and tips for me to maintain/define my hair. I’ve received so many compliments about the length, shape, curl definition and overall cut. So far so great! I’ll be a regular as long as I’m in Christchurch and already sent my friends her way!!

   I went to have my curly hair cut from Nadia. I asked for a trim and I had been growing my hair for the last year. Literally all my hair was cut off its so short after my curl bounced back up. I can barely tie it up. It's uneven with big chunks out of it. I payed $85 and was in and out in 20 mins with a disaster of a haircut it will take me a year to grow back. Nadia didn't listen to what I wanted at all. I contacted her to which she said she was sorry and asked when my booking was? No offer of money back I would not recommend her for curly haircuts and will never go back. Think you should give up hairdressing Nadia you can tell you are not interested in it anymore and don't care about you clients.

   I think something is to be said for the lack of *recent* positive reviews, because I had a terrible experience here. I went in for a wash + cut, and was in and out of the salon in less than half an hour. Only one person was working and I think this was partially the reason for the quick turn around. I received zero consultation about how my hair should be cut, my "wash" was a bit of conditioner put through damp hair and my hair was cut half wet/half dry. I left the salon with frizzy, slightly wet hair and had probably 1 cm of hair cut off. My hair dresser (who was not Nadia) clearly had no idea about what they were doing - such a rip off, especially for a salon that advertises itself as specifically for curly hair.
