   My elderly mother (83) engaged Malcolm Bolton Plumbing last year to replace her toilet. She provided the toilet herself and paid him $300 cash for his labour. He spent around 2.5 hours removing the old toilet and installing the new one. Unfortunately, a few days later, she discovered the carpet in the spare room (directly behind the bathroom wall) was soaking wet. She called Malcolm, and to his credit, he came out the next day (a Sunday) and realised he had not tightened something properly during installation, causing the leak. While he fixed the leak, he told her he’d return the following Friday with a carpet machine to help with the water damage. My mother couldn’t wait five days — the wall, carpet, and curtains were wet and at risk of mould. She had to call her insurance company and a carpet drying company, paying $400 out of her own pocket mid Nov'24 to lift and dry the carpet, remove the curtains and address the damage. Since then (nearly seven months later), AMI Insurance has been chasing Malcolm Bolton Plumbing to repay the $400 cost, as the issue stemmed directly from his workmanship. Despite apparently indicating at one point that he would cover it, he has not. I now understand AMI has either engaged or is about to engage debt collectors to recover this cost. It’s incredibly disheartening that a tradesperson running his own business has not stood by his workmanship, leaving an 83-year-old pensioner to bear the cost of his mistake. My mother saved for months to afford a new, higher toilet that would be easier for her to use — and she certainly didn’t deserve the stress or extra financial burden this situation has caused. I truly hope, for her sake, that Malcolm Bolton Plumbing eventually does the right thing. I will update this review to advise if Malcolm Bolton Plumbing ever does do the right thing by my mother and own his mistake.

   Had my bathroom plumbing replaced for a renovation, I was given a very reasonable estimate within 24 hours and work was done promptly, really happy with the work and the price . highly recommend .
