Service was terrible/rude. The fish was very undercooked and portion size was small. Chips were pretty good but would still never return.
Just moved to Haswell and thought we would try the fish and chips. We'll I was mistaken. My burger was ice cold and the lady that handed it to the man at the counter had her finger up her nose. Rang and told them and was told the chicken was in a warmer and obviously not warmed up. I refuse to go back due to hygiene and after paying almost $10 for an ice cold burger. Safe to say I did not eat the burger.
Worst fish and chips I've ever had in chch. I got a bacon burger, had a miserable half a piece of nasty bacon, dry thin meat patty, with just lettuce and tomato sauce and an over toaster bun, dry and bland. The hot dog is not a saveloy, therefore it's a battered sausage not a hot dog. Bought the thick fish, tiny, don't know what type of fish, but it was tasteless. The chips were soggy, pale, oily. When you pay 29 dollars for fish and chips for two people and on a quiet sunday evening and not one thing is good about them, that's very bad fish and chips.
The chips are beautiful. Unfortunately my fish inwhich I was enjoying had paua shell in the batter. Nearly broke a tooth. The crispy chicken burger was meh. Sorry I have had a much nicer burger at a different local shop. Highly recommended the chips
Got a piece of gluten free fish there today. They told me it was small and suggested getting 2 pieces ($4 each) the size of the fish was the tiniest I’ve ever seen. Clearly not made on site. Will not be buying gluten free again.
Extremely busy place. Fish and chips was average, some chips were dry - a scoop of chips is on the small side. I would recommend that they check in with customers waiting on their orders inside the shop. When I walked in the shop there was a large group of customers. Amongst them was a lady who was anxiously waiting for her order to come up. I could see the annoyance on her face when people walked in & collected their phone orders. There was no checking in with us as the remaining 2 customers left (of the large group) - to ask us for our order numbers & give us an idea of when our orders would be ready. I waited a long time for my order & so she obviously waited much longer. I ended up leaving seconds after her in the end. UPDATE: Responding to the businesses response. Just to clarify, I wasn't suggesting that you check in with every single customer, but when you have a manageable amount of customers in store. We had no idea how far away our orders were from being ready although we could see you taking some phone orders. Your food was average on this occasion but has been really nice on other occasions. I will visit again in future.
Best fish and chips out there. Never greasy, chips are cooked to perfection. I got a hoki recently and it was so fresh, crispy and a thick fillet. The burgers are also so good. It’s our go to chip shop. Would definitely recommend
