βοΈ Review: The Heritage Christchurch β Disappointing Stay Beautiful building but the experience falls far short of a 4β5 star hotel. Reception was cold and very transactional. No guidance on parking, hotel layout, lifts or even directions to the room. Staff did the bare minimum with no sense of hospitality. Wi-Fi was poor, with the guest network βunder maintenance.β The alternative options were unclear, and it would help if the hotel used simple passwords when giving them over the phoneβmuch easier for guests to understand. Room was pleasant but basic. Curtains didnβt block any light, making it hard to sleep with a bright light outside the room on all night. Basic tea and freeze-dried coffee but no milk, which is surprising for a hotel with no cafΓ© on site. A Nespresso machine and milk would make a big difference. Pool & Spa were another disappointment. I booked the hotel to use the spa, only to find it out of order, and members of the public were using the βHealth Centre,β making it feel more like a shared gym than a private hotel facility. Overall: Iβve had better stays at budget and even no-star hotels with far better hospitality and amenities. Sadly, I canβt recommend The Heritage Christchurch until significant improvements are made

Lovely old hotel. Oozing charm and character. Close to everything. Friendly helpful staff. We had a 2 bedroom suite. Living area, dining area, desk area, kitcen, full bathroom with bath. 2nd bathroom with shower. Noise insulation isn't great. If you have heavy walkers in the rooms above or your travel companion in the 2nd bedroom of your suite snores, you will find sleep difficult.

Stayed here 5 nights and generally everything was good, with a few notable exceptions. The rooms are large, with kitchenette and TV area downstairs, and bedroom and bathroom upstairs. The stairs are very narrow, and hard to bring suitcases up and down. The architecture of the building is wonderful. The location is very good. The in-room washer and dryer did not work very well. The washer ran for 2.5 hours, and left the clothes sitting in a pool of water. There is no air conditioning in this hotel. The parking garage next door is close, but getting out requires a very tight turn into a narrow alley.

Loved this hotel. Such a great location close to the convention centre and and easy walk to Riverside markets, mall and restaurants. I loved staying in such a historic building and my room was stunning with huge floor to ceiling double story windows, with a view of the tram. The only thing that isn't clear on the website is that the bedroom is a spacious loft, but does have stairs that might be an issue if you have mobility issues. But it's a perfect layout if you need to work as the sleeping and living areas are quite separate and overall it's much bigger than an ordinary hotel room. The spa was lovely and all the staff were very helpful and approachable.

Absolutely amazing stay. Apartment clean spacious, and luxurious. One particular reception staff Aaman went over and above enabling us together concert tickets that we could not access. He really made our stay brilliant. Sports facilities were really good, lap pool and sauna good range of fitness equipment

Love staying here. This place is a relic and one of the only heritage buildings left in chch. The pool and the gym are lovely. The only annoying thing is the bar and restaurant in the entrance gets very busy in the weekends and intoxicated Patrons can be a little obstructive while trying to enter.

This hotel did not let me down. Have stayed a few times and the staff are always friendly, the rooms clean and spacious and I love the old time feel to the rooms (while not being tired). Price is great too. A special mention to Pawan who went out of his way to look after me. Nothing was too much trouble.

Such a beautiful building inside and out. Sadly that's all I can really say. The Heritage duty manager on that day was extremely blunt and rude and refused to help me with information or directions 0/10 people skills. The room was nice, large and tidy sadly the bedding smelt very stale and a few of the bathroom floor tiles were loose. Again such a beautiful building, convenient location.

I absolutely love this hotel. The staff were extremely kind and professional in their dealings. (Thanks Sheila for the recommendation to have breakfast in the nearby Main Library - absolutely excellent!) It's a beautiful old building, which was a pleasure to stay in. Our room was lovely and well appointed. For what we received, the cost of the stay was extremely reasonable I understand that retrofitting air-conditioning into an historic building is extremely difficult, but even in its absence I'd still give the hotel a Five-Star rating. Thanks
