Absolutely outstanding hosts, Peter collected us from the airport for an early check in and from that moment was incredibly accommodating. This is by far the best service I have encountered throughout my travels and would highly recommend staying here. Facilities were incredibly clean and well presented and will definitely be back next time we are in Christchurch.

Peter and Tessa were incredibly welcoming and kind from the moment we checked in. We stayed in the 3 bedroom apartment and it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We loved the gardens which were beautifully maintained and the children loved playing on the grass. The location was perfect for us with everything we needed within a few minutes drive. We recommend this lovely establishment and we would happily stay again. Thanks again Peter and Tessa for your kindness. Bek, Ben and the kids.

A great place to stay. Our 3 bedroom was spacious and very clean. It looked even better in person than the photos showed. The gardens were lovely. The hosts were very friendly. I found it was cheaper to book directly with the motor lodge themselves.

Peter and Tessa are exceptional moteliers, they go out of their way to accommodate the needs of their guests. They were prompt and reliable with airport pick-ups and were also very obliging with dropping us off at a family event. The motel rooms were large, light and airy, and very well equipped. We appreciated the space of the one bedroom unit. The gardens are immaculate and very colourful. We’ll be back!

Stayed two nights in the 3 bedroom unit which was like a house not a motel unit. Perfect accommodation for a family. Returned to Christchurch for a night a few days later and unfortunately 3 bedroom unit was already booked but owners went out of their way to give us 3 smaller units which worked out really well. All the units were spotlessly clean, comfortable and well appointed. Owners were really friendly and helpful. Would most definitely stay there again.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying here not long after Peter and his lovely wife had started redecorating We needed somewhere close to home and my husband's work. The day we arrived I had said that our grandson was with us for the weekend and they added a single bed into the room for 2 nights and we still had plenty of space for the 3 of us We stayed for about 10 days or so while EQC under went the repairs done to the slab during the earthquakes. The carpet was never lifted and looked under until 3 weeks before they were due to start, this was about 4 years ago and we were going home to care for the animals although as they apologized for the room not being up dated we could have brought the dog with us, which was a lovely gesture. Nothing was a problem, if fact we told them we didn't need clean sheets every 3 days, nor clean towels every morning. We would certainly recommend it to anyone who just wanted to have a few days holiday away from home as it was such a lovely quiet place. Wanting a hideaway for your honeymoon and you can't take lots of time off , it's the perfect retreat. It's grat reading all the lovely reviews. As I said our room hadn't been redecorated or updated but it was spotless as it was. Sorry for the delay in posting this review. We are both pleased that it's all going wonderful for you both. What was something I was dreading as we suddenly had to physically move everything out the house on short notice and they were our island in a Storm. It became a lovely place to have a working vacation.

My partner and I stayed while applying for jobs in New Zealand and ended up extending our stay for five extra nights! Peter and Tessa were so accommodating and friendly during the duration of our stay! Amazing costumer service and knowledgeable about the area! The room itself was extremely clean and comfortable, and the housekeeping staff were great and the kitchen has everything you need to make easy meals. The grounds were so well maintained with beautiful flower gardens. The area is beautiful with lots of walking trails and parks a short distance away at the Groynes and about a 20 minute walk to Willowbank Wildlife Reserve! The hotel is also very close to the airport and Tessa drove my partner and I to the airport (with all our luggage) when it was time for us to go. THANK YOU Peter and Tessa for an amazing stay - we will definitely be staying again if we find ourselves in Christchurch in the future !

I had such a peaceful stay at Northwood Motor Lodge. The trees were in their autumn finery. The room was top notch and immaculately clean, but it is the kind and thoughtful hosts, Peter and Tessa, that will keep you coming back again and again. They put their heart and soul into making your stay as pleasant as possible. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!
