Popped in on the way through (back to Auckland). Main building currently under going renovations / earthquake strengthening, so they only have a small number of things on display at the moment. Good information regarding the history of the NZ wars and of the area.

Only part of the collection as they are earthquake strengthening the building but what they have is amazing. Super knowledgeable and friendly lady gave us a great talk & advice on what to see in town as well. Was amazing to learn what happened during the invasion of Waikato from a Maori perspective instead of the pakeha perspective we learned in school. Sobering and horrifying as well as inspirational at their courage and resilience.

It's now an education and activities centre, great for kids to visit and enjoy an arts and crafts session, and learning a bit about the local history. It would be even better to have some exhibitions catered for adults.

So sad that our original museum has had to close and find a new location. This "temporary" location on Ticket Road is great for the littlies and young at heart with information on the items too large to bring in, like Uenuku. Still informative and fun but on a small scale. Love draws. So much fun.

Museum is not a museum. They only have reading and education material for students. They have non of their actual treasures on display due to a fire that happened. They also won't tell you what happened to the things or how and when they will let the public see them. They just hang up on honest people asking questions

Visited here with my brother s family. Was good to see some beautiful Maori Artefacts. Great way of providing information and use of the resources. Some quiz paper were handed out to my Niece to look for some answers by running around inside. Worth a visit even though it is small and you do pay a fee. Still recommend it. Staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Took some pics here and will see if I can post some of those. Will be back again. Highly recommend it, if you are around this area. Chao.

Some beautiful and real quality Maori artefacts. Great presentation of information, The scale models of the area were interesting and loved the Soldiers Uniform and Woman's dress. Would have liked to see some more history relating to other aspects of this area though, like the farming. Is a small museum but still this was a worthwhile visit and free.
