   This Lodge is an exquisite and exquisitely cared for historical New Zealand treasure. Once the largest home built in NZ, it is now home to 7 of the most luxurious rooms in Queenstown. We were upgraded to the Rhodes suite thanks to our Virtuoso travel agent, Molly Nunnelly of Heirloom Travel. Apparently, this is where King Charles stays when he visits the south island of the Commonwealth! What a suite: a turret sitting room and an office space bookend the ultra lux bedroom and original fireplace. Evening cocktails set the mood for your personal 4 course meal featuring chef Jimmie's exotic combinations of fresh proteins and Otahuna grown vegetables. Stunning. Their wine cellar is second to none in all of NZ - included. The perfect place to start or end your NZ visit.

   Otahuna Lodge is a triumph of personalisation, service excellence, classic accommodation and gastronomic greatness. You feel the warmth, love and care of the staff and the location from the moment you arrive and when it is time to leave it's like farewelling a very old friend. Our suite was spacious, comfortable, historically authentic to the period of its construction and with all of the appropriate modern touches expected of a luxury lodge. Housekeeping is a like a personalised valet service with a range of surprising touches all aligned to exacting standards. Service from the entire team throughout our stay was so warm and genuine. This comes from the owners, managers and team leaders who have created a culture centred around personalised service excellence. It was wonderful to see it in operation and of course very impactful to experience this as a guest. It is rare and something to be both admired and commended. There are simply not enough superlatives to describe the food, especially the evening service. Jimmy and his team source local produce, including from their own market garden and deliver course after course, night after night of outstanding dishes. The dishes are wholesome yet incredibly sophisticated, there are layers of hidden complexity masked by cookery magic, to delivery outstanding quality with flavours of the highest order. Easily the best food we have eaten across any of the lodges in New Zealand. We are already planning a return visit, hopefully with our best friends, where we can introduce them to the magic and intimacy of Otahuna Lodge, Christchurch. Magnificent.

   We checked in on October 6th 2025. What an extraordinary experience this was!!! Many thanks to all the wonderful staff at Otahuna Lodge for their kindness & hospitality. Making this such a magical part of our trip to New Zealand. The lodge is beautifully preserved from it's history. Every meal was outstanding. The chefs used mostly what they grow on the property to create masterpiece dishes. It truly is the very definition of "a one of a kind experience".

   For anyone looking for a special treat then I highly recommend going to a Long Table Lunch. The service and the ambience is exceptional and you can just feel the history oozing out from inside and outside of the lodge. Chef Jimmy is an absolute whiz in the kitchen and it was a true honour to sample several of his masterpieces. I'd also like to praise the exceptional efforts the lovely Lucy took to make me and my octogenarian mother feel at home. She was a true star and we really appreciated her assistance during our meal and garden tour. It was a gorgeous excursion and an experience we will warmly cherish forever. Merry Christmas and our best wishes to all the wonderful team at Otahuna Lodge.

   Beautiful hideaway near Christchurch. Such an intimate feel, upon arrival the owners of this exquisite house greet you at the driveway, as if your coming to visit family. Refreshing drinks, and friendly conversations. Excellent cuisine all around, and even the most excellence in staff. Thank you for such a fabulous short stay. Would definitely return for a longer stay. House can accommodate 10 - 15 quite comfortably. A girls trip to this location in the future, for some RNR, is a must.

Outstanding service, extraordinary food cooked to perfection from produce grown in their own garden, perfectly paired with wine. Seated outside on a lovely summer day with good friends.    we did not go inside..we had a guided tour. Although raining a bit..we enjoyed the four..the private section where fun actions like weddings can be held. Vege garden area show healthy growing veges etc. Such a good feel wandering about here.
