   Very bad experience. We broke down with our van on a Friday morning, and the garage initially told us they wouldn’t have time to fix it. Later that evening, they assured us it was all sorted — even though a part was missing, which they refused to order. Still, they told us the van was safe to drive and we could replace the part later. We hit the road… and broke down again 10 minutes later. We ended up spending the whole weekend stranded by the roadside. Thankfully, another mechanic in Hamilton quickly found the real issue — completely dead spark plug cables, something the first garage clearly missed. Totally unprofessional.

   Highly recommend Peter and the team at Central motors. We had car troubles just south of Putāruru and were towed back to Central motors. These guys went above and beyond for us, even more so when they discovered we had a 1 year old on board and were travelling back to the south island. Friendly office staff and Peter and his mechanics were highly skilled and very professional. Very positive experience at Central Motors!

   If I could give zero stars, I would. We had our vehicle towed to Central Motors Putaruru last Friday after breaking down, hoping they could help us out. My sister and brother-in-law had a flight to catch that same day, so it was an urgent situation. However, they refused to even look at the car that day and said they could only check it on Monday. I made it very clear to the receptionist before leaving that they should call me with the cost before doing any repairs so I could compare with my own mechanic. Fast forward to Monday – I call to check the status, only to be told the car was already fixed without any prior approval from me. No explanation, no call, nothing. When I asked what was wrong, the receptionist simply said, “The battery was flat.” Next day, I’m hit with a $320 invoice! On questioning the cost, I was told: $70 for scanning (which was never needed for a flat battery) $250 for labour – which apparently involved just "checking the fault" The only thing the car actually needed was a simple jumpstart – and for that, they charged an outrageous amount. To make things worse, when I questioned the bill, the mechanic got extremely rude, started swearing, and acted like he owned the place. His tone was so unprofessional that it left me feeling frustrated and helpless. He even hung up on me! This place is a total rip-off, and their staff has no respect for customers. You cannot run a business by overcharging and mistreating people. I would never recommend this workshop to anyone – save your money and go to a reputable mechanic instead.

   Would NOT Recommend! We broke down just outside of Rotorua and called our roadside insurance, who sent Central Motors to pick us up. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there. Since we live in Auckland, my mum had to pick up the car for us, and the receptionist was extremely rude to her—disappointing, as she had been kind to us earlier. When my husband called to clarify the charges, the call was handed over to Peter, who was aggressive and argumentative. Completely unprofessional. On top of that, we were overcharged by $320: • $70 just to scan the car • $250 for labour—for what exactly? The battery was flat! How does a flat battery justify $250 in labour costs? Absolutely unacceptable. Avoid this place!

   Excellent service, my family vehicle broke down on the lower kaimais I ask Pete in the afternoon if he could do a recovery for me and deliver to my home, I wasn't expecting it home that day with it being afternoon already, how ever that evening I got a call my car was here ready to be delivered. Thank you Pete for the fast friendly service and the affordably. Highly recommend by a few locals including myself. Have a safe and Merry Christmas

   For over 20 years Central Motors have been servicing and fixing our cars. I would never go anywhere else. They always go out of their way to give us professional, prompt service at prices that you wouldn't beat anywhere else. Pete and his team are extremely knowledgeable and the ladies in the office are lovely and couldn't be more helpful. The courtesy car is a bonus. They are an amazing team and only deserve 5 STAR reviews.

   Peter and his team are amazing! They have gone above and beyond to help me with my many issues with our cars. At all times they have been super friendly and get the job done as quick as possible. Due to working out of town, they have always supplied me with a tidy and reliable courtesy car. Due to my working hours I can't always get there before closing, there has never been an issue with me having their courtesy car for longer than required. It is so great to finally find a mechanic who is reliable and trustworthy. I have no hesitation recommending Peter and his team to anyone who is looking to support local and after a fantastic mechanical team. These guys are awesome!
