Such a unique place, enjoyed sitting in front of the fire on a cold day. Friendly staff and the food was amazing with good coffee. We found the prices to be fair. Even tho we sat inside, the outside view looking over the Port would be lovely on a nice day. Next time over from OZ will pop in again.

Coffee shop with a nice view of the water. I loved the rustic atmosphere and the old machine inside the cafe. You can have a brunch, or just a snack here. Service was quick despite the busy staff. We came on a Monday morning before noon anf there were many people. Still, we were able to get some seats on the patio area. Coffee was good as well as their smoothies and toast with eggs.

Lyttelton Coffee Company is an absolute gem, nestled in the heart of Lyttelton with stunning mountain views that perfectly complement its cozy, lodge-like interior. The space feels warm and welcoming, with a rustic cabin vibe that’s ideal for relaxing and soaking in the unique charm of this historic port town. Their avocado toast is nothing short of amazing—hands down one of the most delicious I’ve had. I asked to switch the poached eggs for scrambled, and they happily accommodated, which shows their commitment to excellent customer service. The coffee here is truly exceptional—one of the best I’ve had in New Zealand, where coffee can often be hit or miss. What truly impressed me, though, was their commitment to sustainability. Lyttelton Coffee Company seems to promote local everything, and they don’t offer takeaway coffee- I am guessing that they are aligning with their efforts to reduce waste. They had a sign promoting awareness about cruise pollution, which really highlights their environmentally conscious approach. Interestingly, they also don’t serve decaf coffee. While I didn’t ask why, it made me wonder—could it be because certain decaffeination processes aren’t environmentally friendly? The atmosphere here is relaxed yet vibrant, making it a wonderful spot to unwind and enjoy a meal or a perfectly brewed cup of coffee. I left feeling refreshed and inspired by their dedication to sustainability and quality. If you’re in Lyttelton, this is a must-visit destination for great food, excellent coffee, and an unforgettable experience.

Lovely warm relaxed ambience. Green smoothie has spice heat and zing! So gooood! The risotto cake with unexpected side salad was delicious and the ginger nut crunch hit the sweet spot perfectly. It’s rustic, it’s confident it’s truely a slice of bohemian Lyttelton. Great views t top it off and a wood burning fire. Go!

It was almost closing time but we were welcome to sit on the deck and have coffees, which was amazing - see the view. Nice and sheltered from the cold wind blowing on the main street. Had flat whites with oat milk and they were delicious and creamy. Great coffee! Slices in the cabinet looked delicious too.

Probably a reasonable spot if you like rude service with your coffee… Look I can see why this place gets good reviews for the coffee, fit-out and general ambiance. The interior really is quite well done. The service just generally seems to be flustered initially. We were recommended to come here by the local Information Centre. Now in fairness, we were here as part of a port day with Ovation of the Seas, so there was likely a larger amount of customers than normal. That said, when our coffees were delivered to our table, there was a little confusion about who had which coffee; this was meet with a loud “jesus” muttered under the breath of the staff member. Given how busy the coffee shop was, and the fact there was no chairs, I was leaning against a table which had no chairs at it; this was subsequently met with a “you can’t sit on the table” from a staff member, who then proceeded to bring another couple out and source chairs for them (no such offer was made for our family). My whole family felt the whole service aspect was just poor. Note this coffee shop does not do takeaway cups. I would be wary of asking for a coffee in a keep-cup based on my experience… I try and go out of my way to find local shops to review and try out (firmly believe in supporting local) but I would recommend taking your business to another coffee shop.
