What an amazing cafe and experience. Thoroughly recommend cafe for both coffee and food and the front of house service was above and beyond.
Absolutely appaling service from the lady at the counter. We came in and got a muttered "hey" and a dirty glare. The next lady through the door got a "Hello maam". We continued to get glares and a snappy tone as she took our order, this felt very racially motivated and I would go as far as to say this lady is simply profiling me and my friends based off of skin tone. Cafe needs to fire her as it is a terrible look for them. I will be telling anyone I can about this regarding this cafe, as I have never had such a hostile welcome upon entering an establishment. After this lady came and served our food in silence, she walked off and said "you're welcome" with an eye roll. Incredibly rude- food was pretty good though. Fine if you're white, if you're not, enter with caution.
A nice little cafe across from the Courthouse, on Clarence Street. Being the closed end of the street, the parking is easy and also made this the perfect quiet spot for a coffee and light lunch today. Nice selection of cabinet food including salads and slices and the coffee was smooth. Delish!
We all have bad day but to be greeted sternly by the barista was just to much. Asked him if he was happy, which opened the door for him to argue with me.. I asked for my money back as I felt really unwelcome. He then phoned the other cafe cucina further down the road whining about my asking if he were happy and they refused to serve me. Totally don’t need more stress in this world than projected. Suggest barista man to put a smile on ur face and welcome your customers! If u can’t do that, then ur in the wrong profession. Simple. We don’t need to know ur problems!
Over priced Panini and burnt cappuccino. Would not recommend going there!!
Good coffee, but eat somewhere else. Food is ordinary and a rip off.
Charming staff. Delicious Black-Forest cake. French fries to die for! Lovely, calm ambience! Suggestion: one table with a curtain which can be drawn for customers (like me) who need time to recover from the pupil-dilating eyedrops needed for eye photography around the corner.
Coming back to the city from a visit to the Hospital saw a sign out for Clarence Street Cafe and I thought never knew this place was here so decided to call in. It was a bit later than 2.00 and only one other couple were inside but it looked neat and tidy. Cabinet still had a good assortment of food and I decided on the muffin - it was very tasty indeed, and the coffee was even better - so 5 stars and one day I'll be back
