Heater and fridge didn't work 6 nights. Asked first 2 nights then gave up. Didn't refund last night's, I gave them 20 hours notification
Unhealthy room (mould), poorly maintained (broken tap, heater blocked drain), overpriced and small. This motel is in serious need of cleaning, drying out and basic maintenance. The manager/owner was very nice but this motel is not up to scratch.
Highly recommend stayed 2 nights. The owner agreed to a very late check in with no problem at all. Unit was very clean, beds were comfortable. Great location across from the mall. Had no trouble parking on site. Owner was very approachable. Will definitely be staying there again
Not recommended. There was no hot water in the morning, nobody at reception and nobody answering the courtesy phone by the reception at 8.30 am. They also advertise $15 off for a Sunday stay but charge full price when you book. When I emailed them to discuss several times my emails were ignored. Suggest you stay somewhere else, there are loads of good looking motels in Riccarton that offer a better services.
Cleanliness - very poor. Found long black hair in plughole, and on a cup, and twice in a teatowel. Took to management and suggested cleaning staff should cover their hair. On the last night the handbasin leaked on the floor from a broken pipe underneath. Would not recommend.
Wouldn't recommend at all. Wish I had negative stars to rate it. Very poor guest service, no one at the reception on arrival to start off with. Booked for a ground floor room due to some disabilities but was given top floor room without contacting us at all. The room smelled very bad, pillows had no cases on, not enough bath towels in the room therefore complained and gave time at the reception to fix it. Came back in the room after four hours pillows had cases on , had enough towels in the room which I had asked for before leaving unfortunately the room still smelled unpleasant. Enquired about it at the reception and the lady says they knew about it as a few locals checked into that room few days before and had spilled water on the rugs like why so much dishonesty, you didn't have to give us that room when you knew it had problems. We asked for our money back or find us a room or a place to stay the night since they didn't have a family room available at the premises but the receptionist didn't know what she was doing, couldn't even get a hold of her manager and kept arguing onto not giving our money back but did after a long drama. We were so looking forward to staying in Christchurch and enjoying the rest of our night but had to drive back home and please if you want to have your GST receipt you can't have that because the receptionist doesn't know how to print that , like seriously the manager or owner need to provide enough staff training and not forgetting to be able to communicate in English.
I stay here for two night. Great location. Near bus station and mall. Reception is friendly. Room is tidy and toilet is clean. They even have electric blanket in summer. This is good for visitors who from the tropical country.
We've stayed here a few times now and found it to always be clean and well appointed. Great value for money. Very accessible to shops and eateries.
Okay, so I have reviewed this place already. But I feel it worth it to add another positive review after my last few stays. Have stayed at 162 many times now. It's fairly short drive from the airport makes it a convenient overnight halt for me. The rooms are well appointed and clean. The owner is a absolute delight to deal with, his customer service is above and beyond. Showers have great pressure, rooms are toasty and warm, and beds comfortable with quality linen. Full Sky TV offered, and the motel is across the road from the Westfield mall. Waking up in a motel on Christmas morning is never fun, but I was glad I was staying at 162! Thanks team, keep up the great work!!!
