   I said my partner beforehand that you can't go wrong with a Burrito - well I have found out that you can now. Agree with other reviews, ingredients seemed to be missing and just lacked any flavour or quality. The main content of Burrito seemed to be lettuce, cheap grated cheese and some tasteless sauce. The cashier women was very friendly though. Overall, I would try somewhere else.

   Ordered a chicken quesadilla and it had Kiwi-style melted cheese (which was fine) but was loaded with raw carrot sticks. I was quite confused. Why does a quesadilla have carrot sticks? It was not good. However the portion size was great. I see there’s another review where this is mentioned and the manager replied saying it’s a mistake and the staff has been talked to…maybe talk to them again? I will say, the staff were very polite and the food was made quickly…it just wasn’t good

   I’m sorry to see several bad reviews of El Rancho here, so I’m writing to share my delicious experience. I had a pork burrito at dinner time last week. As an American living in NZ I spend a fair amount of time wishing for more and better Mexican food. The El Rancho burrito… constructed Chipotle-style… was generous in size, tasted great and definitely scratched the itch. I asked for hot spicy with jalapeño , and that’s what I got! It was only counter service but the staff were friendly and efficient. I plan to go back every time I’m in Chch.

   I ordered a MILD chimichanga. I literally have never seen so many jelopinos in such close proximity to each other! Please reconsider if you, like me, suffer from acid reflux. One killer chimichanga! Ordered through Uber

   Very average nachos, not at all authentic. Zero coriander, zero lime. Kiwi style melted cheese? Zero jalapeños, grilling the corn would add so much flavor. Definitely disappointing!

   The worst burrito I've had in my life. I LOVE burritos so strive to have them everywhere. I ordered a slow cooked beef burrito from there. There was no salsa in the burrito, it was full of lettuce, beans and rice. I just kept getting angrier and more disappointed with each bite. At one stage I felt they had forgotten the meat as I was halfway into the burrito and had still not had one bite of the slow cooked beef. I was about to return it and thought I'd open it up first. After opening it up there was one small chunk of beef and a few scattered pieces of beef at the very bottom of the burrito. Everyone on my table who was eating something different from somewhere else told me to return it, but the restaurant is located in the market in a very busy place and I didn't want to make a scene. So very disappointed with not only how they made it, but what was inside. That is NOT a burrito El Rancho and you don't have to be a Mexican to figure that out. I'm from Sydney, I think these guys need a burrito making class from their cousins Down Under! First photo is halfway through the burrito (looks like meat but all rice and beans, NO MEAT). Second photo is at the end of the burrito with the one little chunk of meat and scattered pieces under the chunk.
