   I would never recommend Holland Beckett for Legal Aid work, especially under Leesa Speed. Despite me personally filing my Legal Aid application, they took it upon themselves to alter and re-submit it without my permission — even backdating it to the original submission date, which I find completely inappropriate and misleading. They then assigned other legal staff to my file without my consent — directly ignoring my written instructions. Worse still, I provided specific evidence to be sent to Legal Aid, and they chose not to attach it, despite confirming they would. They later claimed there was an “issue” — but never informed me at the time, leaving my application incomplete and misrepresented. In my view, this was careless, disrespectful, and showed zero regard for client authority or transparency. ⚠️ If you value honesty, clear communication, and control over your own legal file — do not use this firm.

Whether it be the sometimes tricky business contracts or the sale of the family home Dean has always been there to guide us with his expertise.    We have had wonderful service at Holland Beckett, so good that although we have now moved to Christchurch we continue to have Libby as our lawyer. We had several tricky family issues and thought we knew what to do, but were able to find much better solutions after talking with Libby. Everyone we have interacted with at Holland Beckett has been superb. It would be great to have a branch in Christchurch, although these days of course it's easy to do business from afar.
