Food: Our group of four were unanimous in their praise of the food and service. The Kingfish Crudo was insanely delicious (I was ready to cancel my mains order so I could have a repeat of the Crudo instead!). Snapper, eye fillet and lamb dishes exceeded expectations and the bavois (yes, boring, we all chose the same dessert) had everyone wanting to lick the bowls. Service: Our requests (a different table from the one that had been reserved for us, and to turn the music volume down) were met without issue. Then we had the good fortune to be served by Natalie. Her professional service and friendliness turned a good experience into a fantastic one. Look after this young lady, she's a true asset to the team! Value: Yes, it was on the pricey side but I've seen similar prices at restaurants that offer a lesser experience.

Despite being a beautiful place, the atmosphere felt very tensed and rushed. I made a reservation in advance and still waited more than 15min to be seen and stitted by someone who didn't even pay attention to what I requested. He got me a very random and hidden table and I had to ask for a better one.. I know they were busy and focusing on the larger groups of people, but it felt very disheartening, disappointing and discriminating the way I was treated just because I came alone. I am used to nice and fancy places, so I'm not new to this BUT I have to say I've never seen such bad and snoby attitude before! Given the fact that Tauranga itself has very few nice restaurants like this......you should really reconsider your staff's attitude and manners! So, ladies or to anyone who is new to the area or is thinking of treating themselves nice and coming just by themselves somewhere, please AVOID this place! It's not worth it. You will be made feel very low, rushed and completely uncared for! The cocktail I have to say I've had better and the food was random as well..didn't blow me away. But your staff's attitude was the one mind-blowing to me. Shame for such a nice looking place.

Outstanding first experience! Thank you to the team for looking after us so well. Food is fantastic, everyone at the table hasn't stopped raving about their experience. Appreciated how attentive you were to drink orders, the cocktails a nice touch. Given the size of our group of 12, it was exceptional how food arrived in a nice flow and decent portion sizes. The feast set menu quantity is perfect! Minor concern, room temperature was bit warm, perhaps some more air flow in the area we were seated would have been nice, though this didn't impact our enjoyment of the feast!

Delicious food! The crudo was insane, the baked Brie divine the flame grilled chicken and pesto gnocchi was beyond expectations. Also great service at our table.

Picnicka was new to us. Meeting friends for dinner it seemed like a good location, being kind of halfway between both of us, plus she’s an awkward vegetarian (who eats fish) and there seemed a lot of options on the menu. We had a very warm welcome when we arrived and thought the decor was beautiful. I didn’t really get the whole “picnic” theme that others have picked up, I just thought it was attractive and bonus points for great lighting that enabled us old decrepits to be able to read the menu! Happy hour G&T was ok, it was only when my friend got a full price one later that I realised I should have splashed out. Hers was a spectacular work of art, mine was beige by comparison. We went with sharing small plates and there was plenty to go around. I thought the prawn cocktail looked a little uninspired and the prawns had been frozen. Absolutely loved the chicken liver parfait with beautiful, pillowy, buttery brioche toast. I actually could eat this alone for the rest of my days. Every restaurant offers this, Picnicka’s is the best. But the beef tartare I hated. There was an overpowering taste of vinegar, not a fan. The Favourite Husband had the fish sliders and my friends husband the fried chicken. Two things of note, firstly they got stuck in so fast I wasn’t able to get a picture, secondly - THEY DID NOT SHARE. Unbelievable. So my friend and I had the buffalo cauliflower with a blue cheese sauce. This was the bomb. There’s plenty of other options on the menu to return and try. The staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. And we found it really good value for money. It was a great night, thank you Picnicka.

Good brunch menu and service. We went on Saturday at about 11:30am. Not busy, walked in and got a table. Would go back if in the area.

Cool place. Their Buffalo Cauliflower is the best buffalo cauliflower I’ve ever had. Crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. If you’re vegetarian or love buffalo chicken it’s a must try! So tasty!

We almost ordered all the small and large plates on the menu. The food taste amazing and the staff were very friendly. My personal favourites are tuna cerviche and grilled octopus. They were so tasty that we reordered that. The ambience was relaxing, I could stay there all day! We topped it off with a lemon tart and it's a must eat! If I had to be picky, I think the only thing I'd say is that the large plate aren't really that large at all. It's just normal size of a main dish so from that sense, it's a little pricey.
