About Us

The kitchen at RAMEN CHIDORI Japanese Noodle Restaurant takes a Japanese‑leaning path and lets the food speak. A riverside backdrop rounds out the stop. Front‑of‑house runs with calm, helpful energy. Sushi and hot dishes come out clean‑flavoured and precise. Wait times are contained even when busy.

Extremely nice people. Just the kindest caring people making your authentic ramen.. I enjoy mine level 1 spicy with extra bamboo. My son loves the eggs! The squid is really good too. Karage chicken is nice, not excellent but good. Crispy Korean chicken is excellent. Clean, and easy to find parking. I have been eating here for the past 3 owners, over 10 years.. Broth is next level good.. very happy to recommend. Not cheap, but it is priced accordingly, as the broth is genuinely made from bone broth.. Similar price to other restaurants, but higher quality ingredients.

The butter corn ramen is amazing. Been back multiple times and always had great quality food. The best ramen I’ve had!

Lovely place to get your ramen! Ordered the two most popular on the menu, dumplings and tried the snow chicken (looks like the want to make a cheaper alternative to Chicken Fryday next door) for the price the chicken was fantastic and a good alternative!! Need to try the more spicy ramen next time!

Ramen Chidori in Tauranga is fantastic! Their ramen is perfectβ€”full of flavor and truly authentic. The dumplings and takoyaki are also delicious. The staff are friendly and create a welcoming atmosphere. If you love Japanese food, this spot is a must-visit!

Both karaage and takoyaki were handmade and very delicious, and katsudon was like a local Japanese dish. Next time, I will try ramen. If you want to stay in Tauranga and eat Japanese food, please visit

Chicken base ramen. You have option of salt, soy, and miso flavour. The picture you see in this review is salt flavour. Very nice clear broth and great toppings. Noodle has nice texture too. 5/5 Highly recommended.

Came here with my wife to get a late lunch at 3:15pm and the restaurant was closed for a break from 3-5pm… wish that was advertised in their hours on google and on the door of the restaurant, as we were starving. We decided to wait and came back at 5pm and ordered gyoza, spicy tantan ramen and Kumamoto ramen. Overall not my favorite spot for any of the dishes. The gyoza could have been fried more to give it a little bit of crispy texture. The tantan ramen was decent and is what I would recommend to order if coming here, but still felt like it was lacking in flavor (had a good touch of spice though). The Kumamoto ramen had a bitter flavor due to the spinach that was added. Also felt that both ramens should include at least a half of a soft boiled egg, as that is typically standard with most ramen bowls. Had higher hopes for this place based on the google rating and high praise

nice soup broth! worth to try! pretty easy to reach this stall since it’s just in Tauranga City Centre.

Good central location, across the road from the mall. Street parking available at front it nearby. Very very yummy ramen and soup. The serving size is towards medium to small side, not sufficient if you are a hungry horse, but again, really yummy ramen and soup stock... good add-on options for your ramen, such as adding a boild egg etc. ample seats inside but during busy hours, there could be a wait. On a hot summer day, it can get very hot inside, especially after finishing the ramen soup. Did not see any air con system inside other than a small free standing a/c unit by the entrance. Regardless, highly recommended for others to visit and give it a go. This store is popular with locals and visitors from out of town too. Service is very friendly and with smiles. Will be back again.

Tried this place because of other reviews saying it is the best ramen place outside Japan, though I'm not much of a ramen person. Their spicy tantan ramen was really hearty and noodles on point, so is the gyoza and takoyaki. The other ramens are decently but doesn't call out to me :) Minus a point because of the long wait to order and get served. Definitely worth a visit, from someone who has had ramen in Japan a few times.
