   Always wanted to dine here and support local. Booked a table 6 days prior for a table for 6 people for a birthday dinner. Upon arrival, no acknowledgement by any staff as we waited in the dining area. During this time a staff member saw us and walked passed twice without making any contact. So one of us approached the bar to inform our arrival, and to ask where our reserved table was. The bar member said " its a table with your name on it ". I then had to ask for menus , and then told to return to the bar to place everyones order. I approached the bar once again and requested a drinks menu, only to be told there was no drinks menu, and each member of our group had to view the fridge and order over the bar! One star is given for the friendly cat sleeping on the chair I pulled out to sit down on. We all decided to leave and dine elsewhere, not because of the cat. We returned the menus and reserved note to the bar member and said we are leaving due to lack of service and attitude. Bar staff said they were buzy even though they had only two dining tables occupied inside at the time. So we all decided to dine in Hamilton where it was 5 stars all round. Disappointed.

   We have been wanting to go to The Backyard pub for some time and we were not disappointed. The service was great, the food delicious and plentiful. The only negative was the apple cider was flat. We hope to go again, when there are live music.

   Pretty average overall. It's quite rowdy in the bar area. The restaurant section is pretty nice and the tables are generous in size. The food wasn't spectacular. I ordered lamb loin backstrap. Meat was cooked well but lacked seasoning. The mash was similar to frozen mashed potato. My other guests ordered the Thai beef salad, surf & turf and the ribs. The meat was consistently under seasoned and the ribs were quite dry. The meatlovers pizza was great. We finished off with a salted caramel brownie which was pretty underwhelming for the price. The service was super fast though.

   I ordered the lamb loin back strap. Meat was ok. Mint mash was tasteless with no mint flavour. All the vegetables were raw and not cooked properly. The knife I was given was so blunt it couldn’t even cut the vegetables. Very disappointed. My wife ordered the roast vegetables salad. Plate was full of salad and she had to search for the very few pieces of roast vegetables. Live music is usually good or at least listenable but that day it was rubbish. The singer even made the comment that “the more you drink the better we sound”. The volume was so high that my wife and I couldn’t even have a conversation next to each other. We finished our meal and went straight home.

   Great music , good pub food , friendly helpful staff . The outside area is fantastic for a get together , live music every weekend in summer ☀️ , trees give a beautiful dappled shade and umbrellas for cover. safe for the kids to have a run around , astro turf dance area, and bikes welcome to park inside the gate.

   Bar staff, food and drinks all great! Can't thank the team there (especially Levi) enough, I'm very indecisive and always leave happy with what I've drank and eaten. Great food, great staff and great cocktails, highly recommend the spiced nutcracker and the tahitian fizz.

   Rib's were cold(hence only 3 stars for food), they probably reheated in an air fryer. Chips good. Garlic cheese bread is a winner!!

   Have passed by this place many times over the years and finally went in for a drink and some food. Greeted by friendly staff and soon had drinks in hand as well as a menu. Plenty of seating inside and out. Nice big open outdoor area with a stage for live bands and a bouncy castle for kids, which has seen better days. The food at our table was great! Very tasty indeed. Will come back again sometime.
