   OVERPRICED!! I got about 3 bean sprouts, a tea spoon of grated carrots and a tea spoon of lettuce. Next to no rice and chicken. The bowl costed 19.99 and it wasn't even filled to the top. RIP OFF!!!

   Easily the best Katsubi around — the quality, flavour, and portion sizes at The Base are always spot on. Not the cheapest lunch at around $23 for a regular bowl, but it’s consistently good, so I treat myself now and then. Plenty of meat and vege options, fresh ingredients, and great flavour every time. You can really taste the difference. Tried the Frankton store recently and it was a real letdown in comparison — smaller selection, not as tasty, and just didn’t feel like the same value. Definitely recommend sticking with The Base and giving the Frankton one a miss.

   Food is very overpriced for its quality and quantity, a average tasting udon with prawn tempura costs $20, while other Japanese restaurants offer higher quality ramen with a bigger quantity for only around $2 more. I also had a very bad experience recently here, as the chopsticks they gave me were breaking down, and sawdust was everywhere. The packet they gave the chopsticks in was full of sawdust due to the chopsticks being from what it seems, eaten by a wood-eating bug. The food has also been increasing in cost, but the taste and quantity have remained the same, or declined. Do better Katsubi.

   Quite disappointed tonight at The Base Te Rapa; with the staff’s comment “go pay first”! My daughter and I requested for 2 single bowls one after another and the guy stood near counter waiting for payment for first single, i explained I will pay all together after requesting for my single and requested for a third single to take home. Quite embarrassing when the lady commented “go pay first” with few costumers behind me. Did I appear like someone not able to afford to pay my bill? Idiotic statement with an arrogant attitude giggling after her statement! Learn customer service manners first! I was there yesterday evening with my daughter to buy the same selection. Should have kept your mouth shut if you don’t have a good memory!

   Worst Katsubi place I’ve ever been to. mostly just rice and didn’t even fill it up and paid $20 for it. The meat was hard to separate looked like it had been there for a long time or reheated. Just like the rest of the bad reviews here go chartwell there so much more fresh and filling too don’t waste your time here

   Great tasting food however rising prices and poor customer service are big reasons I don't go here much more The staff who packed my Donburi didn't fill it to the brim like the used to. Furthermore kutsubi used to do vouchers but discontinued them.
