   The butter chicken was absolutely incredible rich, creamy, and full of flavour! All the food was amazing, and everything tasted fresh and perfectly cooked. It can get a bit squeezed when the place is fully packed, but it’s totally worth it. The staff were really friendly, attentive, and informative, and they made sure my partner and I felt very welcome and looked after. We’ll definitely be back!

   **updated** **AVOID THIS PLACE** **Avoid disappointment ** Reasons are mentioned below I phoned to order takeaway Chicken biryani. As soon as went there unhappy faces i approached Front desk but she was busy om her cellphone . I asked for my order then owner of resturant which is very rude brought my order and chrged me money . I had no issues till then . However, I came home checked there was no Raita (complimentary yoghurt dish served by all indian restaurant in tauranga and papamoa) I called again then front desk lady answered I infromed my concern rather than going to resolution she started being rude and bossy and said come in here for real person . As I tasted only one bite found out chicken not fresh oven cooked rice and mixed with curry no taste at all very basic biryani . I think people who try first time to cook biryani at home can defiantly cook better than this Restaurant. I went back to their restaurant then i advised front desk girl to learn some manners and customer service "Treat people how you want to be treated". Then her father(owner) came in refund my money however they should have gone for resolutions to replace food with better quality and an apology for their un professional behaviour. I read all reviews after this incident most of customers have same issues . I bought another chicken biryani from OWN Masala Tauranga it was far from my place but was worth. People who read my review wanna best indian food in tauranga Here is list of some good restaurant Own masala, Great spice, house of spice. Again Not recommended this place at all **updated** Their receptionist keeps on calling me as of 29/09/2025 around 4:30 pm And threating with police as her brother in police , it is like mentally harassment to a customer if you have my number you should be apologising not arguing for whatsoever reason. According to her she is minor , then why and how she is receptionist serving alcholic beverages thats question to worksafe or whatever authorities responsible for Kindly please stop calling me and forcing me to remove this review . Again avoid this place at every cost and ill definitely inform my family and friends Restaurant's so unprofessional behaviour Kindly work on that Thank you

   Tonight, our regular dining place was temporarily closed, leading us to opt for takeaways. We were delighted to discover smart india. The helpful staff, who assisted us in making a remarkable culinary choice. Their recommendation of the "Mushroom Mutter Korma," specially tailored to meet my dietary requirements as a vegan, exceeded all expectations. I must admit, it stands as one of the finest vegan curries I have ever had the pleasure of savouring.we look forward to returning and trying more options

   I had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant. My friend and I arrived at 8:50pm, and even before providing us with a table, the staff rudely informed us that they were going to close soon and insisted on taking our orders first. This behavior was completely uncalled for, especially considering there was still over an hour until closing time (which was 10pm). Once we finally received our table, we ordered biriyani, tandoori chicken, naan, and lassi. Unfortunately, the quality of the biriyani, tandoori chicken, and naan was below average and far from enjoyable. The only saving grace was the lassi, which was the only item worth praising. To make matters worse, at around 9:50pm, while we were finishing our lassi, the staff abruptly approached us and informed us that they were closing. This was a mere 10 minutes before the designated closing time. It was a truly terrible experience overall. I would strongly advise against visiting this restaurant based on my unfortunate encounter.

   We went here last night, wow what a pleasant surprise! The curries we ordered were both exquisite, we both shared what we had and they were delicious. The naan bread was lovely too, not too thick and doughy. The waiting staff were good too, with the chef coming to check we were enjoying our meals, also very friendly. It does not disappoint, good value to for money too!

   We went for dinner after spending good time on beach. Obviously, we were tired and craving for good food. At entry, we were a bit surprised as there were not many people in the restaurant. However, the food served was great! Here are the details about the items we ordered: Paneer Tikka: one the best paneer tikka we had in New Zealand, it was juicy, smokey and well marinated. The balanced taste or mustard and other spices was awesome. Paneer Kadhai: It was awesome again, it had a smokey flavour and taste of whole spices was great! Daal tadka: I think it was mixed daal and the tadka was icing on the cake! The rich taste of Jira and garlic was there in every bite. Tandoori Roti: again perfect roti was served. It was hot, soft and most improtatnly did not taste like maida. The service and atmosphere was great too! It was a wonderful experience. Its a perfect place for anyone looking for authentic Indian food! I would visit again whenever in Tauranga or Mount Manganui. Cheers!
