I have not been treated so badly in my 35 years in New Zealand. We were going to buy some drinks and I was asking my companion to choose and as I was going to pick two drinks the owner or worker shut the door of the fridge on me. This is the rudest experience I have in my years of traversing the Mount. So if you are going to buy beware at Mount M Sushi. They treat older people differently. Maybe because we were Asians too!

We visited this restaurant and later realized the bill was calculated incorrectly. We were charged $112, but after checking the items, the total should have been around $75.
We trusted the staff, so we didnβt question it at the time and just left. But when we looked back at the photos of what we ordered and calculated it ourselves, we found out we had been overcharged.
Iβm extremely disappointed. This kind of mistake should never happen, especially when it involves charging customers. Itβs unacceptable, and it really damages trust. Please fix your billing process so this doesnβt happen to anyone else.

Sushi is mostly rice ,small pieces of salmon etc.I live in Whakatane where I am used to decent filling inside the rice.

This is my favourite local sushi place, and one of my favourites in the world.
You order by just taking what you like from the counter, putting it in a box, and at the end you pay. This takes less than a minute if you're quick.
The sushi itself is of great quality, tastes fantastic, and the staff is very friendly.
Small, uncomplicated, and simplistic in all the right ways. And most importantly the food is excellent!

Great option for a fast service with tasty food. Wide variety of Japanese sushi ready available to pick it up from the counter. It was fresh and delicious when we visited on 4th of January 2018. Located at the heart of Mount Maunganui, opens late and satisfies belly and soul. You pick your favorite drink from the fridge beside the cashier. No toilets for the public. Watch for birds trying to steal your food.

I've eaten sushi all around the world with the exception of Japan, and as someone who grew up on San Francisco sushi my standards are extremely high but this is hands down the best gourmet sushi i have ever eaten in my life, it almost makes me want to live in Tauranga, almost, its that good.
