   BEST CHINESE RESTAURANT IN HAmILTON My husband and I enjoyed our lunch at Master House Chinese Restaurant at Hamilton today, 10/7/2025. Our observations are as follows: GOOD POINTS: 1. Excellent service The Chinese owners are very friendly and hospitable. We can have a chat with them in both English and Cantonese. 2. Great food. We ordered deep fried chilli tofu and sesame balls which are perfectly cooked. ADVICE: We highly recommend you to have lunch or dinner there.

   As a Hong-Konger, I cannot believe I can find the most authentic Cantonese cuisine during my trip in New Zealand. I am pretty surprised that this restaurant did not get enough attention in the town. Maybe the decors and vibe are not that appealing compared to the modern standard but I guarantee you will get a good food experience here. Language could be a bit difficult for ordering traditional Cantonese cuisine though:) The dim sum and night dishes are fabulous with very reasonable price and portions! I went back 3 times during my 6 day trips around Hamilton!! Hopefully they receive much more support from town as it will be a great loss if these traditional Cantonese cuisine disappears one day:(

   Ordered roasted duck to-go. One staff said sold out, another staff recommended some 5 spice duck? (I forgot what they called it) that I wasn't interested. Now, another staff said they still had roasted duck and it took them 10 mins working on the "roasted duck" before handing it out to me. Anyway, if the duck was good, it didn't matter what it's called but it wasn't. Skin not crispy almost soggy. Not acceptable even for take away standard. Meat was dry liked double cooked. Would not recommend, at least for takeout.

   I ordered from MasterHouse the other night on UberEats. I felt absolutely ripped off the portion sizes had decreased dramatically in the last few months since my last order. The Sweet and Sour Pork was sweet but not Sour. Portion size a joke....literally had halved but the price has increased. The squid was soggy. Fried rice was bland. $50 for $15-$20 worth of food is not acceptable, I felt extremely ripped off. I was a regular customer in the past, hadn't ordered for a while and come back, to be highly disappointed.

   Ordered 3 dishes of Dim Sum to taste. None had flavour. Totally bland and tasteless. Didn't know that could happen to dim sum. Service and decor was within expectations. Still better than Victors place but leaves much to be desired. Won't come back again.

   Fold not great and far too expensive. Beans were the only good thing. Won ton soup and Beef brisket noodles were tasteless. Not worth the money.

   Easy to notice from road side.. 1st time having dinner at this resto. Been there with group at boxing day.... few tables occupied and take quite long time for them to serve what we ordered. Is it because of boxing day or ...? Steam Fish is good, while others is so so...
