An old pub with great atmosphere! 20/8/25 This pub has gone backwards in s big way, so old, no atmosphere anymore Feels cold, smells funny. Don't recommend.
Is this the skodiest pub in Christchurch? No, that would be the Woolston Sports Bar. The Yaldy feels a bit like going to prison. The "beer garden" is a claustrophobic concrete slab with a low roof and walls, dark with no outlook. It was getting hosed out when our small group arrived. Not wanting to sit inside the dated and stuffy sports bar I asked Hose Guy if we could sit out there. "Nup" he says. That's it, just Nup. We sat in the smokers area out tge front, which is also completely closed in, and admired the lack of building maintenance, to the soundtrack of West Coast Road about 6 meters away. To be fair there's a couple of good drinks on tap and the fried platter was ok.
Went to the good old Yaldy last Saturday as our last stop on our pub bus trip....had a great time...staff gave us free reign in the outdoor area....much appreciated. Would definitely recommend for a good time!
Tired. Needs a upgrade. But staff were lovely
No hot water for a shower the 1st night I was there and had to constantly keep on bar staff to get it sorted my second night there, Was very disappointed especially after a 13hour work day all I wanted was a shower and decent bed,
Friendly warm and ....humble. dated. Nearly a 2 star the toilets have a strong smell...like urinal Tablets? Relaxed which I like so 3 stars
