Nice big pieces compared to what you would usually expect, but also more expensive than you’d expect ($25 for 8 pieces). We went on a Sunday and I think the sushi wasn’t freshly made BUT the service was good..!
Ordered salmon sushi roll. It is horribly overpriced and low quality sushi. There is basically no salmon inside This is not salmon sushi it’s salmon flavour sushi !! Be aware!! :((
This is incredibly overpriced, for two people it was $52 for our selection - which would normally be around $30 at a normal place. The sushi was nice but nothing special, avoid this due to the price unless you are a) starving or b) so rich that you dont care about price. Very overpriced for 7.5/10 sushi.

Next time I would probably get my kai to go, as the little indoor dining area wasn't clean. But that's my only non-positive thing to say here. We had heard about Whaingaroa's Arohi Sushi so we thought we'd drive over from the Mount one day for lunch. Worth the 2+ hour drive! We had a few delays, so it was 2pm by the time we got there, maybe that was a slow-ish time of day for them because our order didn't take long at all. We ordered seaweed salad, a Mikey special, inari, aloha rolls, and spam musubi, and everything was unreal. I've never eaten spam, never wanted to, but I'd heard about the spam musubi and was curious. If that is what spam usually tastes like, then I've been missing out! It was delicious!
Nice spot for lunch. Sushi options can be a bit limited but the bowls are made quickly and are tasty.
Food is average. Staff is friendly. Tables were gross and sticky. The staff must think the back of the restaurant is their storage closet. Lots of cool old surf posters on the walls to look at.
