Location: 48-56 Tamaki Drive, Mission Bay, Auckland. • It’s a beachfront-park / reserve (“domain”) between the beach and Tamaki Drive, with direct access to the shore. What’s There / Amenities & Features Selwyn Domain is well equipped and is popular with locals and visitors alike. Here are its features: • Fountain / Paddling Pool The Trevor Moss Davis Memorial Fountain is one of its big draws — a marble fountain with bronze sea-monster (or sea creature) figures, that shoots jets of water. It doubles as a paddling pool for young children during warm months. • Beach / Seafront Access It’s right by the beach, so you can move between beach-side activities and the park easily. • Playground / Picnic / Shade / Trees There are well-established trees offering shade, picnic tables, seating, and grassed areas. Good for relaxation, socialising. • Toilets, Changing Rooms, Showers & Amenities The reserve has toilets and changing-room facilities; showers (some new, improved) to support beach users. In 2021 the public bathrooms / changing rooms were refurbished. Upgrades included more interior showers, better ventilation, better accessibility, baby change tables, new fixtures etc. • Parking & Access There’s parking at both ends of the domain, also street parking nearby. • Restaurants / Cafés Nearby Since Selwyn Domain is right along Tamaki Drive, there are cafés, restaurants on the road backing the reserve, so food / drink options are plentiful. History & Upgrades • The domain / reserve has been around for many decades. The bathrooms & changing rooms building dates back to 1934 initially, though its interior layout and fixtures have been updated. • In recent years (2019 onwards) Auckland Council initiated refurbishments to better match the needs of increasing users. These upgrades addressed needing more changing rooms, showers, toilets; better access and ventilation; structural and seismic upgrades (to meet earthquake-risk standards). ⸻ What It’s Good For / Who It Suits • Families with children (paddling pools, fountain, close to beach) • Picnics, relaxing, reading, enjoying seaside views and sun/shade mix • Casual beachgoers, people who want to spend a half-day lounging by the beach plus walking along the promenade

Beautiful spot that I am lucky enough to call home. Great restaurants and people, always a popular spot when the sunshine is out.

It was nice. They had a game for the toddlers to search the Crystal in the sand. Plenty of families were there. Mission Bay has always been a lovely place for all age groups to visit. The beach is fun to be in. There's a walking path for the fitness people. Along the roadside there's plenty of restaurants to choose from too. In the summer it's a lovely place to be there.

Selwyn Reserve has established trees for shade, grassed areas for exercise, recently rebuilt bathrooms, showers and changing sheds, plus a wonderful safe beach for swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking, Mission Bay shops directly across the road offer seafood, ice cream, coffee and more. Even a cinema, the Berkeley.

A magnitic for visitors from near and far. This is the most famous and popular beach in Auckland. Always packed. You can try the eateries along Tamaki Drive. There is two toilets. There is also a playground. There is a police station at the intersection. Always lock your car and don't show any valuables.
