Their Chinese food is always delicious and on the strength of that we tried their fish and chips. The chips were okay but the fish of the day (Hoki supposedly) was awful, like cardboard in taste and texture.
1st & last time ordering here. The reviews of the sweet & sour pork were hit & miss. Ours is a big miss! The dish is literally half the size of the combination Fried rice. Never had chinese takeouts served in different sized containers, ever & we've been ordering take out 30+ years! Sauce was barely covering the overcooked dry pork. Not worth $25. The plus is the rice & chips were very well portioned, hence 3 stars.
I ordered the beef with black bean sauce and found the serving to be generous, which was a positive surprise. However, the broccoli was unfortunately overcooked and came out a bit tasteless, which took away from the dish. Another small detail was that no spoon or fork was provided, which made it less convenient. The staff seemed emotionless and not particularly welcoming, which didn’t make the experience very inviting. Overall, while the portion sizes are good, the food quality and customer service could be improved to make the visit more enjoyable.
Purchased fried rice, dumplings and lemon chicken through uber eats and it was inedible. First the smell was weird as soon as we opened the bag - we were really hungry so ignored it at first. As we were eating we both realised it was a burnt plastic smell/flavour so we stopped eating. It was awful. Tasted like that smell you get when you burn plastic in the microwave. Threw it away. Will not be ordering from here again! The dumplings were also full of water. So disappointing, and so expensive.
Diamond Takeaways have always been the more spendy of the Chinese takeaways around, but this was offset with really high quality ingredients and plentiful dishes. The last couple of visits though have not been worth the $100 spend for 3 people, with it being poor quality and definite reduction in portions. I guess inflation and food prices are hitting everyone including businesses hard but this means I can no longer justify their prices.
Yummy, delicious, and fast. The fish only cost you five dollars and quite a big one. However, they don't accept Paywave, so please remember to bring your debit card here.
On July 2nd, I placed an order for Chinese takeaways totaling $135, which included five dishes. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the food. Most of the dishes were only half full, and lacked flavour. So I have decided not to purchase food from Diamond again. Over the past 15 years I have frequently ordered meals from Diamond, and they have consistently delivered good takeaways.
Stopped in for a prawn chow mein a few weeks ago. The dish was well cooked, but a little on the bland side - not much flavor. Had crispy noodles (not my favorite but still ok) and veges were fresh.
