Wow! Charcoal Chicken is hands down my favourite take out, especially the southern chicken burger. However I alway cut the siracha back a little. That's just my preference.
I ordered a Hungry Bird (half a chicken - 2 pcs of legs) with Kabsa Rice to go (priced at $24.9 as per Nov 2024). Boy was I delighted! The charcoal-grilled chicken is juicy and tender. The kabsa rice is fragrant and goes so well with the peri-peri chicken! I’m definitely coming back - gotta try the other sauces!
Our family’s new favourite ! We usually get takeout as a treat once every couple weeks because we like to cook at home as we know what ingredients go into our food and what we’re feeding our children. Straight off the bat, you can tell the level of care that is taken to choosing the quality of everything that goes into Charcoal Chicken’s food. As soon as the kids had their burgers it became their instant obsession ! The chicken tenders were also so juicy and not too salty, just perfect! Portion sizes were generous too. We paid $11.90 for 4 tiny chicken tenders at Nandos and the whole portion was the size of 1 chicken tender from charcoal chicken, no comparison at all! Thank you so much! We’ll definitely be back!
It is my favourite takeaway store and I drive from far to get the pulled lamb burger. The burger I received today was burnt so badly that I couldn’t eat it and I couldn’t bother to drive back to complain They are good take away store but if you are ordering takeaways then please check your food before driving back. Who ever ordering burgers check the burger bun inside if they have burnt it

Thought we would give this local place a try. When we ordered, the lady at the counter was pretty rude. We wanted to try the chicken bites but wanted to know how spicy they were. Her reply was "well do you like spicy or not?" Which I thought was a stupid thing to say, considering spice comes in different levels. And guess what they weren't even spicy. The picture also shows them with a thick, creamy looking sauce, but they came with a thin, watery sauce that just soaked into the chicken. Didn't really enjoy them. The beef burgers we got were pretty average, just your usual takeaway burgers, nothing amazing. The chicken burger, though (south western), was pretty decent. Big juicy chicken in it, and the sauce was yum, too.
Barely any chips, called them said they only give half portion, but atleast let people know most places give more chips. I’d rather have just brought two pieces of chicken then ! Called them and tbh they were quite rude and start debating with me. Disrespectful
My sister and I came here to satisfy our cravings, the portion size was perfect and the fries were amazing! We couldn't stop talking about it once we got home. Would recommend getting it in store over delivery. The person that served us was lovely, will come again soon!

The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was nothing short of amazing. But let's talk about the food. Oh my goodness, where do I even begin? The chicken at Charcoal Chicken Takanini is simply out of this world. I have eaten at many chicken places across New Zealand, but I can say without a doubt that this is the best of the best. The chicken was cooked to perfection - crispy on the outside, moist and juicy on the inside. And the best part? It wasn't oily at all, which is often a problem at other chicken places. But it wasn't just the chicken that blew me away. The chips were next level. I don't think I've ever tasted chips that were so perfectly crunchy and coated in the most amazing seasoning. Every bite was a burst of flavor that left me craving more. One of the things I loved most about Charcoal Chicken Takanini was the value for money. The portions were generous and the prices were incredibly reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food. I left feeling completely satisfied and already planning my next visit. Overall, I cannot recommend Charcoal Chicken Takanini enough. The staff are on an epic level of amazing, the food is top-notch, and the value for money is unbeatable. If you're a fan of chicken, you simply have to give this place a try. Trust me, you won't regret it.
