   The place has new management and it shows. The coffee is actually amazing and was even better than I have previously had at this coffee shop. However the food is at best ... average through to horrible. I asked for the cheese scone to be toasted and it arrived microwaved). The cheese scone was so salty it was disgusting to eat. I did eat 3/4 of one half piece, hoping the taste would improve. I regret his decision (as my mouth was still burning from the salt taste over 30mins later). I did take back the uneaten half and explained it was terribly salty and disgusting to eat. I was offered more food which I declined (due to both Items I ordered being horrible). I was surprised I was not offered a refund (even though I didn't ask for one) But I guess they wanted to keep my money. I just walked out after declining the food offer. I also got a cinnamon scroll at the same time as the scone, but even that was barely average tasting and arrive unheated. So far with this experience I can't recommend this place for food, only the coffee which is delicious. And this is a shame as I used to go to this Cafe regularly before the ownership change.

   Today, we stopped by Mitre 10 Takanini and were pleased to find Columbus Coffee inside. They offer a great selection of cabinet food and menu items, but sometimes, it's just about enjoying a delicious drink. Given the warm weather, I opted for a Belgian Iced Chocolate — it was refreshing and exactly what I needed on a hot, humid day. We also had a double-shot flat white, which was smooth and satisfying. The café has plenty of seating, both indoors and in the Mitre 10 Garden Centre, which offers a lovely outdoor setup. For families, there's a little playground and even some colouring activities to keep the kids entertained. The service was friendly, efficient, and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. Overall, Columbus Coffee in Takanini is a clean, inviting spot with great drinks, food, and service — definitely worth a visit if you are in the area!

   I recently had the pleasure of visiting Columbus Coffee Shop & Eatery at Mitre 10 Mega Takanini, and it exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I stepped in, I was welcomed by the friendly owners and staff in a cozy, inviting atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The coffee was absolutely fantastic — rich, smooth, and expertly brewed. You can tell they use high-quality beans, and it truly makes a difference. But what really sets this place apart is the food. The menu is full of mouth-watering options, from fresh pastries to savory breakfast and lunch items. It’s clear that they put a lot of thought and care into their food offerings. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick coffee or looking for a relaxed spot to enjoy a full meal, Columbus Takanini is the perfect choice. The service was quick, the ambiance was lovely, and the quality of both the coffee and food was top-notch. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone in the area!

   This is the largest Columbus Cafe and outdoor playground. I've been to. Heaps of space for seating indoor & outdoor. Outdoor area has lush surrounding of the Mitre 10 plant and gardening area. The food is delicious, from hot meals, and cakes, everything is made in their kitchen. Friendly, attentive staff. Will definitely go again. **Traveller, all the way from North Shore, Rodney**

   A nice setting in the mitre 10 garden centre. Polite staff. They do have some gluten free slices. Very expensive (about ten bucks for a bowl of chips) and quite a log wait for the food.

   I went there to have some lunch with my husband today and i was blown away with their hospitality. Staff is absolutely amazing, they keep on coming to tables to ask if everything is okay, topping up water, providing more tissues. Very relaxed environment. It was quite busy when we got there and we were a bit worried if it will take longer but the staff have provided everything on time. Coffee was awesome and food was very tasty, certainly going there again. Well done :-)

   We popped in for breakfast before we started our 4hr journey home and I can honestly say, our breakfast set us up for the day. The service was helpful and efficient. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with bacon which did not take long to arrive at all and it looked absolutely delicious - the quality of the food was great and the presentation was obviously amazing. Kudos to the chef who we thanked on our way out. Well done to the team at Columbus Cafe!

   Needed a place for brunch with family, after having tried various places a friend suggested this cafe, and to be honest have not found any better cafe anywhere in Takanini. Place was packed but staff were so efficient and yet friendly even with so much pressure. The food is really awesome. Wide variety of cabinet food.
