It shares the same bar with Tanuki, and the food was absolutely delicious. You should definitely try the Mummy β the mix of pork and shrimp is perfectly balanced, with the prawn flavour not too overpowering. The texture and taste blend nicely, making it one of the standout dishes of the night.

How fortunate and lucky are those that get to experience The Cave. The atmosphere is so fun, the food is great, particularly the Vienna sausage and Scotch Fillet Steak with condiments providedβ¦and if I had a last meal on earth, it would be the popcorn chicken aka food of the godsβ¦ seriously, the name does this incredible dish little justice. We personally found everything was well priced. (Especially compared to Aus where we canβt even afford to dine out) The really travesty of it all, is that we indeed live in Aus, so itβll be a while before we can visit again, probably a good thing, Iβd spend every dollar Iβve ever earned here if I lived closer. Thank you so much, your venue made us feel happy and grateful to be on this earth.

We went on Tuesday and arrived at 6pm and need to wait around 30mins. Love the charcoal bbq! Especially like the sweetcorn, salmon, fry Tofu! Will go back again!

Absolutely amazing restaurant. The vibes are always on point, yakitoris are delicious and great range of sake too. Sometimes you may have to wait for a seat but you can get started with drinks while you wait so its never bothered us. We try to come every couple of months, our fave restaurant!

Super busy in the weekend and a lot of the time there will be a line or waitlist. But it's worth it. The atmosphere is very good. Smokey and noisy. Most of the yakitori is delicious. Special mentions are the tsukune and beef tongue. Perfect with some sake.

I would not highly recommend this place. We ordered a mushroom and leek and it came with you guessed it ONE single white button shroom cut into 4 pieces and put onto 2 sticks? I'm a bit confused on how this was a $6.50 dish, so I was a bit shocked and confused but it set me up for the rest of the meals which were also very tiny and pricey, it would be good if this was a restaurant but for a bar that barely has anything going on, and frankly quite boring, extremely expensive and not worth it, I would give it a lower review but the food wasn't bad but definitely not worth the money for me today, drinks felt on the weak side! Didn't expect them to taste watered down especially for a 14% alcoholic drink such as Plum wine. It was ok but I was quite dissapointed in my experience sorry

Visited the cave before our dinner booking at Tanuki restaurant. Place was humming, managed to get a standing side table near the wall. Great atmosphere and fantastic experience before our dinner reservation.

A must try in Auckland. It feels like a tucked away yakitori bar in Japan, from the entrance, the atmosphere and the food. The skewers are great and I'm not one to like cheese stuffed foods but the chicken mince ball and others are great here. Other recommendations would be the wings, yakitori and the steak. Best spot is to sit at the bar but there's plenty of other seats around. The price is decent and in my opinion, worth the price per skewers. Ended up spending around $100 a head most recently.

My friend and I went on a Thursday night, you know it's a great restaurant if it's packed even on a weekday. It's one of the hidden gems of Auckland. We ordered quite a variety from the menu and everything was delicious. My friend did make a mistake on ordering the mushroom with minced coated with breadcrumbs instead of the yakitori mushroom with minced so it wasn't what we expected but overall good taste. Loved the dessert especially. Highly recommended and will definitely return!

WOW! The food, the service, and the atmosphere; everything was amazing. The scotch fillet with butter was the best part as well as the legend 22 sake. The jelly sake was super yummy (it's basically alcoholic aloe vera drink). Highly recommend coming here but just watch how much you order as it adds up very quickly!
