Sri Pinang is a true gem for authentic Malaysian food in Kβd road for over 34 years!! The dishes are full of flavour, generous in portion, and bring out the richness of traditional spices without being overwhelming. The roti is light and crispy, perfect with their rich curry sauce. Service is warm and friendly, making you feel like a regular even on your first visit. A must-visit spot in Auckland for anyone craving real Malaysian comfort food. Very affordable price. Will definitely come back again.

The best Malaysian restaurant in city by far. Have been coming here for last 18 years and have never been disappointed. Angie and her team are awesome. Keep up your great work.

We saw this Penang restaurant ok the Google map with a high rating so decided to give it a try. It was a late lunch, we arrived at the restaurant at about 2-ish and was greeted by the friendly lady boss. As we were looking undecidedly at the lunch menu, she offered us the dinner menu to see if there something that we would prefer instead. We ended with the curry chicken with steamed rice and Penang fried kway teow, both were really good, especially since it was our last day in Auckland after spending 10 days in NZ! The lady boss recommends that we must try their beef rendang the next time and if I come back to Auckland, that would definitely be on my to-eat list! I would highly recommend this place for their authentic Malaysian fares, especially the Penang dishes! It's walking distance from Queens Street and is in this eclectic neighbourhood filled with thrift stores and an Asia food court and supermarket. A nice neighbourhood to stroll and to look for hidden treasures.

Had pretty high expectation for this place because my friends told us was good. So we came here to try. We ordered the roti, chicken curry and the angel wings (stuffed chicken wings with pork). First of all we ordered chinese tea which was not complimentary which is fine but they only put like 5 leaves in it with a large pot of water, but ok let's move on. The dishes came pretty fast which is bonus points because we get to leave earlier. The chicken curry was $24.50 and had probably 100g of chicken breast and some potato in it and it was very lack of flavour. The curry was diluted and don't have any depth at all. The rotis weren't bad but I feel was similar to the store bought ones from Pak n save. The angel wings was basically unseasoned corn dog battered deep fried chicken wings. The sauce that goes with it was hoisin sauce which did not paired well at all. It also had a few piece of shrimp crackers which was yummy obviously. Lucky we didn't order much and we were in and out 20 minutes. It is sad because, the restaurant had pretty nice dim atmosphere, just the food is making Malaysian cuisine look bad.

My first day in New-Zeland, it was 12 o'clock, I was starting to feel hungry, passed by restaurants that surprisingly to me where still closed I noticed this one, and read on their store window that they had been named on CondΓ© Nast Traveler Magazine's world food map, what a reference! I went in without hesitating then, loved the laid-back atmosphere, brought by the place itself, staff and customers As it was my first time ever at a Malaysian restaurant, I decided to ask staff for recommendation, as long as it would not be spicy, and went for Mie Goreng, a typical Malaysian meal, made of fried noodles, chicken, seafood, egg, tofu and vegetables Happy to recommend Sri Pinang!

CLAY POT CHICKEN RICE - A must have dish here. The clay pot chicken rice is served in a big sized clay pot, which comes out nice and hot. As time passes the rice at the bottom becomes deliciously golden and crunchy. Generous amount of vegetables and chicken. Abundance of ginger and garlic flavours. We also had the Beef Rendang following glowing reviews by everyone. It was nice, but I think I had too high expectations of the dish. Staff were friendly despite being very busy. Will be back again!

I have been hearing about this place for a while now and today I got the chance to visit this gem of Auckland. A must try roti canai and chicken curry! It's like a warm hug to the soul. The roti is aromatic and fluffy which melts in the mouth and the curry has a beautiful hint of coconut. Add up the spice levels as per your taste. I also ordered the mee goreng another good dish. Not very oily like alot of other places (which is bonus). The service was outstanding. It was great to see happy and friendly faces. The server gave us some good suggestions while ordering. Will surely visit again! P.S : they have some great lunch specials!

I didnβt understand the hype, the food tasted ok at best. To me, the beef rendang (the top 100 iconic eats that I came here for) tasted more like stir fried beef and some sauce than a curry. The texture of the beef was not right, the dish did not have the depth of flavour that beef rendang normally has.. it just wasnβt quite right. (And not sure why it came with a sad salad)
