   They always have a great selection of veggies and meat options at this Katsubi. The lady serving is always very polite and patient. Can’t really rate the atmosphere because it’s a busy mall that is beyond their control. But this is definitely of my go to Katsubi eventhough I live in Ormiston.

   If you’re cruising through Manukau and feeling peckish, Katsubi at Westfield might catch your eye – it’s that Japanese spot where you build your own donburi bowl. Pretty handy if you’re after a feed that’s quick, tasty, and a bit different from your standard takeaway. You start with rice, then pile on salads, your choice of meat like crispy chicken or beef, and top it off with some saucy goodness. When it’s done right, it can be real mean – full of flavour, heaps of variety, and fills the gap without leaving you feeling stink. A lot of locals rate the concept, and the crispy chicken’s a go-to for heaps of people. It’s got that crunchy outside, juicy inside vibe, and when paired with a good dollop of sauce and some fresh veg, it hits the spot. Plus, it’s quick-as, so if you’re in a rush between shops or just don’t wanna muck around waiting for your kai, it’s a decent shout. That said, it’s not always a home run. Some punters reckon the portion sizes are a bit on the tight side – like, you’re mostly paying for rice and not getting much meat. Not ideal if you’re proper hungry. There’ve also been a few grumbles about the salads looking a bit tired, and the odd soggy lettuce leaf can definitely ruin your buzz. As for the staff – well, depends who you get. Some are choice and get your order sorted with a smile, but others look like they’re just over it, aye. Service can be a bit cold or rushed, especially when it’s busy, which is a bit of a letdown. On weekends or lunch rushes, the place can get proper packed too, so don’t expect to find a seat easy. It’s more of a grab-it-and-go situation unless you’re lucky. And if you’re after top-notch cleanliness or fancy vibes, it’s not really that kind of spot – it’s more fast food with a Japanese twist, no frills. All up, Katsubi Manukau’s a solid option if you’re not too fussy and just want a quick, customisable feed that’s a bit different. If you get it on a good day, it’s sweet as. But if you’re big on service, freshness, or value for money, you might wanna suss out your options first or hit it up when it’s a bit quieter.

   The domburi meal was absolutely vile. Stingy on the vegetables and the meat covered in sauce. As for the sauces to go with the meal, weird flavour combos and again, way too much. I ate a small portion and threw the rest in the bin. Would not recommend. Yuck!

   Was a fan of Katsubi and decided to try this one in Westfield Manukau, shocking customer service! I didnt realise the mini had no salad so asked to change to a single. The man literally tipped the rice and chicken into another container and chicken ended up the bottom, no sauce and so dry i couldn't swallow it. Im an elderly gold card lady and it was like slop. Have an upset tummy since eating there, never again! Be warned! No star

   Terrible customer service. If you’re gonna eat here, try avoid ordering from the middle-aged looking Asian lady as she is very rude and unwelcoming. Other staff are fine though.

   Has to be the worst katsubi in Auckland. I have been to a lot of their restaurants and this has the most unfriendly service, smallest portions and least tasty food. I have been there a few times now thinking it will be better but everytime it's a disappointment.
