   The place was beautiful, lovely atmosphere, staff were very kind and attentive. The only thing I would change is how they do the Vietnamese coffee. You have to wait at least 10/15 for it finish. Very strong too. If you like that, thats all good but not for me. I like to drink my coffee straight away! Overall would definitely recommend :)

   This was our first stop after landing in New Zealand, and it set a great tone for the trip. The space has a relaxed, stylish atmosphere, filled with greenery—including an impressive tree right in the center—that makes it feel warm and inviting. We ordered the pork banh mi and a cà phê sữa đá. The banh mi stood out for its flavorful pâté and excellent house chili, both of which added real depth to the sandwich. The coffee was brewed with a traditional phin filter, which I appreciated, though the overall flavor didn’t quite come together for me. Even so, the visit was a memorable and enjoyable introduction to New Zealand’s food scene.

   I visited Mug & Bowl Cafe for the first time on Mother’s Day, and while the food was fantastic, the experience was a bit chaotic. The staff seemed overwhelmed, especially a younger man (who I think might be the son of the lovely lady serving). He was loudly telling staff off and yelling about clearing tables, which really isn’t what you want to see as a customer-especially in hospitality. It was clear he struggled to keep his cool under pressure, and it made the atmosphere uncomfortable. On the other hand, the woman who I assume is the owner (possibly his mum) was the complete opposite. She stayed calm, polite, and kept serving with a smile, even when things got hectic. As someone who’s worked in the hospitality industry myself, I know how stressful busy days can be, but keeping your composure in front of customers is a must. The young man could definitely learn a lot from her professionalism and experience. Now, onto the food: it was absolutely delicious! The wait was long, but that’s to be expected on Mother’s Day or any busy occasion. I’ve seen some reviews mentioning bizarre things like a kid doing things to the food, but honestly, I doubt that’s true. From what I saw, the focus here is on good food and genuine service. Overall, Mug & Bowl is a lovely eatery with great food. My only suggestion would be for the staff-especially the younger ones-to work on staying calm and professional during busy times. If they can sort that out, this place will be even better. I was tempted to give three stars because of the service hiccup, but the food and the owner’s attitude really saved the day!

   Service and food was excellent. It was our first time here and the guy at the counter welcomed us right away. He made suggestions about their vietnamese specialties and gave a free taste of their pho which was really tasty! We ordered roast pork banh mi and the 12hr pho which was so good. Ambience was nice, I initially thought it was just a small cafe/eatery but it actually has a good decent space inside. They grow herbs as well and they gave us a little pot of basil as giveaway. Will definitely come back again.

   Food was on point and fresh, service was professional & quick. Loved it, the food the service the atmosphere. They grow their own lettuce & herbs. Highly recommended. Definitely be back.

   What a gem that i found by accident. I just got back from vietnam 5 days ago, and also a Vietnamese myself, can vouch for this pho, so good!! Friendly and very helpful staff. Will have to come back and try the whole menu :)
