This is a great overall hotel. The service is wonderful, staff friendly , it’s clean and the rooms are nice. The highlight for me was how efficient the aircon was and also how beautiful the lobby/restaurant area. I had breakfast here 3 mornings and the food was very decent. Location is good. Very central and very close to everything in Auckland CBD. The only downside for me is that there is no pool.

Recently stayed at the Fable and was disappointed. Definitely not 5 star as they claim. The elevator doesn't go to the top floor, if I had lots of luggage I would have been annoyed. Buffet was awful and neither of us could finish our plate of food. Bar shut early and we couldn't get our welcome drink, room wasn't serviced. Only saving grace was the bed was fantastic. Genuinely one of the best hotel beds I have ever had. Massive + comfortable.

A rather interesting and unusual hotel. Situated in a very good area of Auckland on Queen St near the waterfront. This is a quiet area with very little of the noisy traffic that one encounters in many well known urban hotels. Beautifully outfitted and in excellent condition the rooms are well equipped with coffee machines (that can make tea as well), comfortable seating and even accessories such as shoe horns and creams and hair dryers. However, no working desk area and limited storage. The most controversial aspect of the rooms is the bathroom which has a toilet surrounded by slightly transparent glass walls that do not give one a real sense of privacy. The restaurant was completely empty when we went for "Happy Hour" drinks. (Available 4-6 pm). Perhaps we were too early? Only one couple at Happy Hour. The employees seemed somewhat subdued, down; and quiet. Our rate included breakfast. I ordered soft boiled eggs. They arrived, totally hard and rolling around inside a soup dish. How was the cook expecting how I was going to eat them? These details are a shame as it is basically a very attractive property. Just needs a better and more caring management?

Stayed at Fable for work for two nights. I had stayed before but this experience was no where near as good as my previous stay. The staff were lovely and room service food pretty decent. However, the room I was in was dreadful. The window was boarded up and for $270 a night this was bizarre, very unpleasant and made the room feel like a cave. The fridge did not work at all and the hotel information on the TV did not work. I pointed this out to hotel staff on my first night but this was not fixed during my stay. There were awful squeaky floorboards by the bed which was pretty unpleasant. I won’t be returning.

We stayed here over the weekend for our wedding anniversary, having booked a few months in advance expecting something special. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to the five-star label or the glossy website photos. When we arrived, there was no greeting or concierge, we had to ask where reception even was. Check-in felt casual, not polished. The valet parking process was vague; our car was simply taken with no information on where it was going. The room itself looked nice at first glance, but the minibar was empty, the shower shelf was half falling off, and only one set of towels each was provided. The spa had been “broken” months earlier when I first enquired and was still out of action, which really shouldn’t happen at a five-star property. The sauna we booked had a broken light, so we sat in the dark, not quite the relaxing experience we were expecting. Breakfast was another let-down. It was advertised as à la carte, but it turned out to be a standard buffet with lukewarm food and below-average coffee (at a premium price). Service throughout felt indifferent. No one offered help with bags, no one asked how our stay was when checking out, and we weren’t given a receipt or follow-up email. To top it off, our credit card was overcharged and had to be corrected later. In short — it’s not a terrible hotel, but it’s definitely not five-star quality. We won’t be returning, and I’d suggest management take a serious look at the details and service standards if they want to live up to the brand they’re advertising.

Best value five star hotel in Auckland CBD. Half the price of hotel Britomart with rooms twice the size. Great restaurant and excellent staff. I called up this morning for a last minute booking and was given a great price with immediate check in 3 hours early. Umut who works at the restaurant does an exceptional job.

The hotel is beautifully decorated, I wish I could give it 5 stars but the thumping noise from the nightclubs below makes sleep impossible - even on the top floor, where I was! so it's a hopeless place to stay. Added to which the big problem with homeless people camping out side the front door of the hotel makes it feel really unsafe. Such a shame for the hotel, but these are serious problems for guests.

We were only here for one night and didn’t really get to try any of the facilities or restaurants, but a good experience overall. We arrived on a late flight around 2 am on a Friday night/Saturday morning. Had to buzz to be let in = good security. Our room was spacious and nicely laid out, with a lovely big bathroom. Bed was possibly one of the comfiest I have ever slept on. It was very noisy, being a Friday night. Even with windows firmly shut could hear the noise, but we were so tired that it didn’t really bother us. Location is great, super comfy beds, hotel decor is lovely

Amazing location - walking distance to the harbour and so many drink and food locations nearby. Tea and brownie on arrival was a nice touch. Room wasn’t available for 30 minutes so a drinks voucher was provided — another nice gesture. Room was lovely, well decorated and spacious. Only little detail was the menu in the room book was out of date with items no longer get available and the special T2 tea mentioned on the website has been replaced with Dilmah tea bags - small thing, but makes a difference if you’ve seen it mentioned and it’s looked forward to. Jacuzzi booking was great, tiles were coming off the bottom and had been placed around the edge by previous users do a bit of maintenance needed. Valet parking was confusing, no space outside so instructed to park around the corner in a 5 minute loading zone. No urgency to collect our vehicle to the point we prompted the staff to please move it to avoid a ticket. Confusion on check out with the vehicle, with the staff member who checked us out telling us the concierge would come tell us when our car was available, but after 10 minutes we approached the concierge to ask where our vehicle was and it had been waiting for us - little bit of internal communication between the concierge and reception would have made a big difference. Note there is an extra service fee for any room service.

Beautiful hotel in a fantastic location with walking distance to shops restaurants harbours and parks. The room we had booked was nice and comfortable. We were concerned after having read lots of reviews complaining about the noise from the club which is directly under the hotel. I woke up at night for some water and it was quite noisy (a Wednesday) though was able to get back to sleep quick enough. Wife is a lighter sleeper but slept through it so I can't comment really. We were there two nights and the second night we slept through without problem. It might depend where your room is etc. You are downtown in the city after all. There's a private jacuzzi you can rent which is great. The staff were also very friendly.
