The staff here are absolutely incredible! They tracked down a lost receipt from a different branch so that I could swap a gift the night before it was needed. I've never experienced such above and beyond help. Shoutout to the staff members who were rostered on the Thursday night shift on December 11th 2025!
A senior staff member at the store has been very arrogant. I usually spend about ten minutes browsing to see if there are any books I want, and my child always sits quietly in the corner reading while waiting for me. However, the last two times we visited, my child was told to leave and that their books are not allowed to be read in the store — that we should go to the library if we want to read. Previously, when the children’s books were on promotion, they placed colouring books together with the children’s books under a sign that said “Buy one, get the second half price.” But after paying, I found out that there was no discount at all because colouring books were excluded. No one informed us beforehand, and placing them together under the sign felt deliberately misleading. Because of these experiences, I now prefer going to the bookstore in Albany instead.
Look, this place has Shrinky Dinks. I hope it comes with oven.
The staff are generally ok except for the pit bull security woman who obviously has a low opinion of people. Very rude. Haven't been spoken like that for a long time. Incase your listening Whitcoulles,try to make your customers experience as pleasant as possible or they'll go somewhere else like I will.
I was pleasantly surprised of how the staff were very helpful to their clients. Sharon, took her time to really help me out to search for a rare item that I needed and got everything organized like magic. Will definitely go back to this store when I can.
Didn’t have what I was looking for but a few books but the store was tidy and clean. Easy to find items and customer service was great.

The outlet has the best selection of good reads. Every time I visit, i get something interesting to read.
Had a less than ideal experience with Whitcoulls Northwest. I had purchased a jigsaw puzzle mat which was notably defective. I had brought it to the store for a refund. The store manager too noted that the product was defective, however stated it was ‘fit for service’ and would happily resell the product at full price again. While I am sure that there are many products that would be ‘fit for service’, I found the service here subpar and disappointing. If I were to purchase a chipped bowl, I would hope to receive a refund of the product even though technically it can be eaten from. No apologies, refused to refund and would only provide store credit for a defective product.
There is one woman in particular who was so helpful in helping me get particular books for me. I cant thank her enough. The staff I've found were always really helpful and nice, patiently took the time to help me, and went (what I felt) was put of their way to deliver awesome customer service! Really took the stress out of book hunting for me!
