My husband was given a box of beer bought here before 1pm on 20 Sept 2025. When opened recently, it was expired on 26 Jan 2025. Refund was refused due to no receipt, despite the product being expired. It has a clearly visible barcode and batch/lot number, which should allow the source and expiry issue to be traced. I have contacted Head Office to seek a resolution. I will also be sharing this personal experience on TikTok to raise consumer awareness.

My go to place for groceries they usually have very very good deals especially when things are on sale however sometimes I have been in the position where some of the staff don’t help and some actually help the most. Overall experience not bad though!

There are many Pak’nSave stores in Auckland, but this one is special to me. The reason is simple. it was the first place I shopped when I arrived in New Zealand, so it’ll always have a special place in my heart. It’s a great spot to get almost any grocery you need. The Indian spices selection is a bit limited, but otherwise, you’ll find pretty much everything. The staff are really nice and respectful, and there are always lots of little deals, which is a nice bonus.

Pak’nSave Sylvia Park is one of the better options if you’re after cheap groceries but still want a cleaner, more modern shopping experience. Being located right next to the Sylvia Park shopping centre gives it a bit of an edge — it feels a little more polished than some of the older Pak’nSaves around Auckland, and the vibe is a bit less hectic, at least during off-peak hours. The store itself is fairly new, well-lit, and spacious. Aisles are wide enough to get through without having to constantly dodge other trolleys, and the layout makes sense. It’s still got that classic Pak’nSave look — plain, functional, no fancy extras — but it’s more pleasant to walk around than somewhere like Papakura or Royal Oak. Prices are solid. You’ll find all the usual weekly deals and budget-friendly bulk items. If you’re planning a big shop or trying to save a bit each week, this place delivers. The produce section is usually well-stocked and fresher than average. Same goes for the meat department — good variety, and the quality seems to be a bit more consistent here compared to other branches. The bakery has your standard breads and rolls, nothing gourmet, but decent for everyday needs. Staff are generally helpful. They’re not going to chase you down to offer assistance, but if you ask someone, they’ll usually point you in the right direction or find what you need. Checkout times can vary — self-service is available and useful for smaller shops, while the manned checkouts are hit-or-miss depending on the time of day. Parking is actually pretty good since it shares space with Sylvia Park Mall. There’s heaps of it, and it’s not as chaotic as some other Pak’nSave carparks. That said, it can get busy during peak shopping hours or weekends, especially when the mall is packed, but it’s manageable and definitely better than the tight squeeze at places like Royal Oak. One minor issue is that, like with other Pak’nSaves, not everything listed online matches what’s available in-store. So if you’re going in for something specific you saw on the website, be prepared for it to be out of stock or just not stocked at this location. All up, Pak’nSave Sylvia Park strikes a pretty good balance — you get the low prices and variety that Pak’nSave is known for, but with a cleaner, more organised store layout and a bit less stress. It’s a solid option if you’re in the area and don’t mind skipping the frills to get the savings.

Fairly organised and most items in stock! CONS- they only have huge trolleys available and their prices are not uptodate- Paid $9.50 for an item labelled as $6 and realised at checkout

Pathetic to say that they think everyone are thieves even when you are carrying so much expensive shopping from Sylvia park. Please be sharp minded for the actual thieves out there and not others. Indian checkout lady at self serve was extremely rude and racist. Had all my receipts checked and I offered them to check my bag also while they were at it.

A week ago we were enticed there by its 99 cents avocado. We bought inter alia eight avocados ,(4 each person). Luckily we were only allowed to buy 4 avocados per person. I guess the avocados were not matured enough before harvesting. A week had passed but their skin was still very green, only partially turned medium dark. The outer portion about half an inch deep had became soft but the inner portion was still very hard. I believe they will rot soon. Really disgusting!

Trying to get into the mall can be challenging, so plan your visit carefully. Due to traffic in the weekend, in particular, you need to plan for a bigger shop, not just to drop in for a few items. Definitely less expensive than Countdown, but a smaller range.

Nice friendly staff, awesome stock of produce, snacks, foods..it's going through some upgrades at the moment (17/07/18). But very nice, from big aisles, plenty of trolleys, awesome place has everthing for your everyday grocery needs...right next to the mall too.
