Living Simply is a fantastic store. I've bought my boots and tramping gear there for several years. I hadn't realised that they also have a great range of trail running shoes. Recently (June 2025) Rob gave me excellent advice and persuaded me into a pair of Altra all-weather trail running shoes. I've found them perfect for running outdoors (on the beach and hill tracks) in Auckland's wet winter weather. Many thanks!
Love this place! These guys really know their stuff - they helped sort me out with a Mont Moondance tent, which I got at a great price. $70-100 cheaper than competitors. They even cut me a deal on the footprint as well. On top of that, they were happy to answer all my questions on how to get started with camping. The tent performed amazingly on its first excursion - super dry and steady in the wind. I'm a happy customer!!
Best experience I’ve had in any store for a very long time! Wife and I came to buy some boots and packs. Ben was incredibly helpful, patient and knowledgeable. Didn’t feel pressured and was a super friendly vibe in there. So stoked to find out that it’s independent and honestly the other mainstream stores don’t compare. TLDR: Excellent service. I haven’t stepped foot in this shop in over 20 years since going with my parents. The service I got when I went in to buy a new pair of boots was outstanding. Spent A LOT of time trying different boots on trying to get the right fit. The boots I got was Salomon Quest 4 GTX. Perfect fit. Have and will definitely keeping recommending Living Simply to friends.
Bought a pair of boots that were not quite right for me. Ben worked on a solution which resulted in getting a good fit. Very experienced people with a sound knowledge base and wanting to make sure you get a product that's right for you. A service like that is not so easy to find these days.
