   I had an unpleasant experience with a lady working across Jo Malone counter & skincare. We have purchased something from ecoya candles (next to jo malone) and then asked her about the price of items next to the counter. The sign on that counter said “a further 30% of yellow and green sticker items”. I have askd her to check how much it would be after that further discount. She scanned and said there was no further discount, I asked her how come the sign said there was, to which she basically said she doesn’t know because she scanned and it is not there. I was appalled - what a lazy, ignorant attitude. She just turned around and left to continue looking in her phone. I then went to another counter, and asked an associate there (a young helpful looking girl) to help. She went and figured it out. She said there was definitely a further discount but the machine wouldn’t scan it. She sorted it for us. I get it system can fail, but people. The attitude of that first associate is so embarrassing for David Jones.

   Such a beautiful store. 5 stars for that, 1 for service. I only interacted with the cosmetics area but it was unfriendly. I asked a white coated Gucci sales lady if items were testers. She said yes then walked away with much purpose. I guess her admin work was calling. Other ladies, invariably Asian, (why all one kind?) chatted in the aisles to each other, even blocking access. This is what Smith and Caugheys became, no sales people with personality or warmth in the same area of cosmetics. Someone briskly asked if I needed help but really they had no idea how to approach or help, or make people feel comfortable. I spent decent money instead at the Mac counter in Farmers, where young ladies with personality actually helped me choose and buy.

   Very disappointing customer service. I was given two completely different policies by different staff members, and it was obvious no one was on the same page. Ray, one of the managers, could really benefit from learning how to communicate respectfully with paying customers. It’s a shame there’s only one David Jones in Auckland — the Australian stores are miles better. Honestly, if the brand has a physical store here, you’re better off going there and avoiding the unnecessary drama and staff who act like they’re above you.

   I had a wonderful experience today in David Jones (women’s wear) Newmarket. BIG shout out to Kate who was a delight! - Genuine, honest, so polite and professional. We had a good chat about choosing the right colours to wear. Gave me a few tips on how to find out, instead of telling me what I wanted to hear. Made me sad that I was the only customer who had been nice to her all day. Come on people! Be kind! Would you like someone being unkind to a member of your family? Think about it. These lady’s (and gentlemen) work incredibly hard. The store is immaculate, the changing rooms are spotless and the best lighting I have ever experienced. Thank you also to the lady (didn’t get her name) who gave me a refund on an item. It was a seamless procedure. I Ended up purchasing another item in the end!! David Jones is probably my new favourite store. Can’t wait to shop there again.

   Misleading labels on kids clothing. We spent hours selecting clothes with 30% off only to find out there was no off on them but only on specific items. Jesus, why do you put labels on products then. Predatory customer practices. Plus, their customer service is so poor.

   The one and only David Jones in Auckland, but if compared to its counterparts in Australia, this one is quite underwhelming…but I’m not surprised. A lot of brands that other stores would have are missing, even if they do have the brands, the products available just aren’t as good. However, it’s already very good for NZ’s standard.

   ♿ I like the good quality of apparel accessories and brands of this store 2 floors women is at ground level I like my labeled clothing items and a good variety to choose from . Hugo boss tommy hilfiger etc. I have bought a few pieces from here a jacket from Calvin Klein and bag from Tommy hilfiger . You would expect to pay top prices for the popular brands.
