   Great find! These guys have a sign in their check-in office that says something like "Come as visitors, leave as friends" and they really embodied that phrase! They were very gracious, especially when family requests verged on overbearing, and the rooms were comfortable! Beds were perfect, with very warm blankets (I get cold easily), shower had all the hot water you need, kitchen was fully stocked with a stove, microwave, toaster, kettle and small refrigerator, closet had hangers and they even have a pool (but I was too cold to swim). All in all, a very pleasant stay.

   Probably the nicest staff I’ve ever had staying at a motel, I booked last minute on trip.com and called them up to immediately jump in their free shuttle service from the airport (so handy). The rooms are big, very clean, particularly liked the modern bathroom with great shower pressure. I will be staying here whenever I have an overnight layover in Auckland!

   I’d only recommend booking if you are desperate and need something close to the airport, otherwise definitely not. Don’t trust the pictures they are clearly dated, property maintenance clearly isn’t a thing. The whole place seems to be social housing as well which I thought you would have to disclose to paying customers. The positives are the sheets were clean and the shuttle driver and man we dealt with was incredibly friendly and done a great job

   The photos on the internet make it look really nice. What a disappointment in real life. It should NOT have the word 'Goldstar' in its name. I would only recommend it if you are desperate for a place to lay your head down, before or after the airport. Probably only a one star rating. Our room was for five people, we had four towels, one hand towel and NO flannels. As it happened, I wouldn't use the shower anyway. There was loud music coming from one unit till all hours and there was a domestic in the next unit, with screaming, shouting and banging. And to add insult to injury they had doubled their prices because Auckland was so busy. Definitely will not be going back.

   So, I will just go out and say it. I don’t normally stay at Motels. And when I travel with my wife and kids we REALLY don’t stay at Motels. But, when facing a 4:30am wake up to get to the Auckland airport after dropping off the rental car, we thought it would be easier to be closer to Auckland Airport and The Airport Goldstar Motel seemed like a good option. Check-in was a breeze, with the check-in guy being so damn polite it was like being checked in at the Intercontinental! Parking on-site was a little tricky, needing to back in on an angle, but nice and close to the room. The motel room was incredibly roomy and perfect for a family of five. The cleanliness was off the charts perfect, with crisp white sheets and VERY comfortable beds. The road noise was a little loud, but not too bad and certainly no worse than other places I have stayed. Overall, highly recommended if you need a quick and clean bed for the night.

   We were travelling from 3.5 hours away to stay as we had a early flight the next morning, while I was driving I got an email (that I didn’t see) saying that it had my old card on my account and I had a hour to sort it out or else my accommodation would be cancelled, because I didn’t see it, it was cancelled, I had been talking to them the day before saying our arrival time would be around 10pm so they knew we were coming, when I got there the receptionist said it was my fault and not his problem, I told him email was not a good way to get a hold of someone and he should have rung me which he’s said he did several times (he didn’t). So this left us up there at 10.15pm with nowhere to stay, lucky found a nice place to stay, also glad we didn’t end up staying after all these bad reviews. 10/10 would not recommend.
