Ladies particularly, if you are seeking an honest and trustworthy mechanic, this place will look after you! A week after moving to Wellington, I had a transmission hose burst in the Pak n Save parking lot. My car wouldn't start and I called the closest mechanic on Google... Umesch walked over to have a look. I decided I'd sell the car as I couldn't afford the repairs. He kindly got his friend to tow it to his shop for half the cost my insurance quoted and offered to help me sell it. I left it in his hands and within a week, I had a call from someone interested because Umesch was parking it on the street and bringing it back in the garage for safekeeping each night. Also turns out the repair was only half of what he initially quoted because thankfully it was just a hose rather than the whole radiator needing replacing. For someone brand new to the city, I'm so grateful to have had his kindness. Thank you, Umesch for going above and beyond and helping me feel safe and supported in a new place! Experienced and knowledgeable mechanic that will go above and beyond to help out at a very competitive rate! We arrived in Wellington with leaking coolant meaning to catch the ferry the next day. Unfortunately we had a deeper lying issues with our engine but fortunately we landed with Rongotai Motors. They managed to fit us in, ordered parts quickly, worked speedily also over the weekend and everything at a very reasonable and more than competitive price! Now weeks later we are driving up and down throughout the southern alps and everything is running smoothly
Very friendly owner and staff. Had 1 back light broken and the owner helped to fix immediately without any appointment right before Christmas holiday. They are so helpful even for such a small job.
I genuinely cannot recommend Rongotai Motors enough. I called on Sunday with a bumper that had literally fallen off and by Monday it was fixed. The service is 110% and I had previously never been to a car repair store being a teenage girl but I felt so heard and understood everything. If you ever need anything done go there!!

Had a broken exhaust and an expired WOF right before Waitangi weekend. Was afraid that I would have to cancel the rest of my trip with ferry crossing. These people came to the rescue and helped me out, worked the whole day and fixed everything. I can't recommend them enough.
Called after VTNZ had a issue with a hose the 2 days before New Year’s. The guys took it in and worked late and got me all sorted no issues.
