Rather than give a poor review, I usually grin and bear it. This place could be very nice if maintenance was caught up. Our room was a good size and setup, but the DW and the kitchen sink faucet were broken. And there was a major ant infestation. We complained but nothing changed. Good thing it was only two nights.
Great location and free onsite parking. Rooms were clean and tidy and would stay again.
The rooms were clean and spacious. Towels were clean and clear. Great kitchen set up. All you need to bring is salt and pepper. I will definitely stay again soon. My new place to stay when in the city.
Abaco suited me well. Travelling alone from Melbourne to Auckland to reunite with old friends, most of them residing in a relatively short distance from Ponsonby. Fifty-plus years ago, I lived a short distance away on Curran Street, so there was a nice familiarity. Sheryl, host at Abaco, was very welcoming and fielded a couple of phone calls for me, which helped greatly. As I had told her when booking, my need was accommodation clean and quiet. Perfect. And an excellent shower is a blessing for the traveller. Car parking at the rear helps visitors. Location is great, eateries in walking distance (recommend Honey Cafe on St Mary's Bay Road), views of Auckland's wonderful harbour, and the weather was uniformly wonderful during my stay (March 20-24). I would stay again.
Very happy to recommend to visitors to Auckland. Good room with all necessary amenities and a spa bath. Hosts are responsive and pleasant. Off street parking is ample. Lots off local shops and eateries. Easy access to the city, the harbour, motorways and the bridge.
Rooms are cozy and consistently serviced. Amenities covered all our needs for a kitchen, and the hotel does laundry for a very reasonable price. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful with suggestions for travelers.
We had a great time. Was an older design but has been renovated and now has reasonably modern furnishings, was very clean and had everything we needed in the kitchen. We we're there for 5 nights and it was serviced every day. Also, it was great to have free parking so close to the city centre.
We're visiting from Australia. The location is quite good and rooms reasonably clean but dated. Unfortunately our stay here was anything but quiet. There were other guests partying until 2:00am, traffic noise and due to the very old design of the premises, you can hear all the noise and movements in the rooms around you. Don't stay here if you want a quiet and restful experience.
This would have to be one of the best places to stay in Auckland. Incredibly priced for what you get, especially for a motel and is better provisioned than most hotels. Very cool friendly and welcoming staff too. Couldn't recommend more highly! Hope you enjoy your stay as much as I always do.
Everything was good quality. Good free unlimited wifi. Very clean, nice kitchen. We had a room at the top with good views and the spa bath. The parking lot would be a bit tight for a large vehicle. Plenty of shops within walking distance.
