The room absolutely stunk of cigarette smoke, the most vile scent as a non-smoker. It was infused into the bedding, mattress, headboard and carpet. There were several hairs (not mine) when I pulled back the covers. Gross. Someone was mid-reno when I checked in because there was unsanded contract filler in several patches on the wall paintwork. I had run out of milk so asked the staff for a small amount for one cup of tea and was declined. Ridiculously penny-pinching. The foyer stunk of incense in the morning too. A lovely scent in temples and places of worship, not in a hotel lobby.

The lady at the front desk handled our check in poorly. She was terribly rude and accused me of being a scammer when the system didn’t accept my card on the first attempt which made for a very unwelcoming introduction to the Quest. I will certainty not be coming back!! For the price you pay you expect a warm welcome by someone who can communicate clearly and respectfully. Instead I was faced with someone who was rude, difficult and argumentative!! I noticed there were some other reviews about the poor service, so if this is something you value, stay clear of this place. The photos on the website are deceiving, in reality the rooms are rough, with scratches and marks all over the wall, they were however clean - possibly the only thing good about the stay!

I stayed at Quest Ponsonby Apartments for two weeks. The room was convenient and suitable for a long stay. It had good facilities like heating, washer and dryer, and a small kitchen with a hot plate, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster, and basic cooking items such as pots, pans, cutting board, and knives. There was a separate bedroom with a double bed, a living room with a sofa, dining table, and chairs, plus a balcony. It also had satellite TV, a cupboard, iron, and hair dryer. Wi-Fi was limited to 7GB per week, which might not be enough for heavy use. The location was great, with plenty of restaurants, bars, and food courts within walking distance. The hotel doesn’t provide breakfast or any meals, but that’s manageable with nearby options. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, it’s a decent place for a long stay or family visit not the best, but comfortable enough for the price and location.

Good experience. Staff are friendly and helpful. Short walk to the city and lots of good choices / places to eat. Had dinner at Prego which was less than 10 minutes away and the meal was excellent in every way.

Be sure to read the fine print before paying them anything up front. We booked a room for one of our staff who had to attend a course in Ponsonby for 4 days and paid upwardly of $880. The course was cancelled and we had to stand down the booking. Quest chose to keep the money due to the fine print that said advanced payments are not refundable. Their loss. I've used them for staff in various roles for many years but will never book and stay with any Quest facility ever again. Absolute theft. Never had this experience with any other accommodation provider before.

Great stay, great location. Studio room, clean and comfortable, with Sky. Secure parking reasonably priced at $20 p/n

I got the last room facing the road (last minute booking) and I’ve got to say it’s been so quiet and a lovely stay. Room is a bit older but equipped with everything you need in an apartment hotel. Great location. Super fast checkin. I don’t think they deserve the 3.5 star average.

Quest Ponsonby is the best Quest we've experienced so far with 2 adults and 2 children! The rooms are spacious, and the lounge furniture arrangement is perfect. The addition of a decent-sized dining table was a pleasant surprise. The view of the park and Sky Tower is fantastic. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Plus, the secure parking access surpasses other places we've stayed at. Would definitely stay at again.

Terrifying experience! Single female placed on ground floor. Woken at 1am to a large drunken group partying out the front of my room, playing loud music smoking and swearing for hours! Leaning against my room door!!! I was scared for my safety. They possibly had come from a recording studio next to The Quest. I cannot believe I paid for this experience. I had to drive long distance the following day with little sleep. Do not stay here.

We landed in Auckland after a delayed flight, 4am in the morning. Super tried. We thoughts let's try and check in early but with no expectation. The staff saw how tried we were, moved a bunch of rooms around for us, and within a hour they had room ready. Couldn't have had a nicer experience. The location is amazing, so may bars/food/retail with walking distance..
