   I occasionally buy fruits from this store. During the Christmas season, their cherries were of decent quality, though a bit expensive. However, the store owner discriminates against customers. I noticed that she is very friendly to local customers, but towards me (an Asian customer), she lacks even basic courtesy. She never greets me, and after checkout, she maintains a cold demeanor without saying thank you or asking about the receipt. This has happened at least four times. I believe that as a customer, I am essentially supporting her livelihood. Such differential treatment only reflects poorly on the store owner's character. Some might think she always appears to be smiling, but in reality, her quality of service is truly lacking.

   On a Saturday morning I purchased a variety of fruits including some strawberries to make a fruit platter for a baby shower. About ten minutes after buying the produce I began chopping up the fruit for my fruit platter. Unfortunately 3/4 of the strawberries were mouldy and had to be thrown out which was really disappointing. I rang the store to let them know and encouraged them to check the other strawberries and they told me all produce was checked before being put out and questioned if I’d bought the strawberries from them at all, and assured me that I couldn’t possibly have bought them from them. Needless to say it felt pretty infuriating being accused of lying and I felt incredibly annoyed that I was without the strawberries I needed, plus had wasted a further five horrible minutes on the phone call speaking with someone who just accused me of lying. If you need strawberries in Karori, please pop into either new world right next door, or countdown around the corner!

   Lovely traditional fruit shop with reasonable prices. Just watch the pre-packaged fruit, it may be over ripe. Best to hand pick if not consuming immediately!

   Always has cheap, amazing quality produce and kind staff. They often have products that the other supermarkets nearby don't sell or have out of stock. Great hidden jem and recommended 100%.
