Oakley Creek Waterfall is a hidden gem in Auckland. Peaceful, surrounded by native trees, and easily accessible via a short, scenic walkway. Perfect for a quiet morning walk or a relaxing nature date. Can’t believe such a beautiful spot exists right in the city. Definitely worth a visit

Oakley Creek Waterfall in New Zealand is a hidden gem that offers a breathtaking escape into nature. The picturesque waterfall cascades gracefully down a rocky cliff, surrounded by lush greenery and vibrant flora, creating a serene atmosphere perfect for relaxation and reflection. The well-maintained walking trails leading to the waterfall make it accessible for visitors of all ages, and the sound of the rushing water adds to the tranquility of the experience. Whether you're an avid hiker or simply looking for a peaceful spot to enjoy the beauty of New Zealand's landscapes, Oakley Creek Waterfall is a must-visit destination that leaves a lasting impression.

Oakley Creek Waterfall, including the Oakley Creek Walkway, has the potential to be a beautiful outdoor escape, offering both tranquility and natural beauty. The soothing sounds of the stream add to the calm and relaxing atmosphere. The waterfall, though not massive, is a lovely feature that adds charm to the area, providing a picturesque spot to pause and take in the surroundings. Unfortunately, the walkway is poorly maintained. Trash is scattered throughout the area, detracting from its otherwise peaceful setting. Some of the paths are broken, making certain sections difficult to navigate, and several of the signs are vandalized, which further affects the overall experience. With proper care and attention, this place could become a fantastic destination for a quiet day outdoors, especially with its waterfall being a standout feature.

Naturally very pretty. Especially so close to Auckland's CBD! However, it is in a rough neighborhood and is clearly unmaintained. The bridges and paths were falling apart and there was litter and graffiti everywhere. Visit at midday as it isn't safe at night.

A nice and quiet place, especially in the winters or weekdays. However, maintenance of the walkway is poor and it’s broken in places and also missing bridges which limits the distance one can walk through. Currently (in July/2024), there’s maintenance and construction work ongoing due to which entry from the Unitec side is blocked. You can enter from the Glades side. The walk along the sanctuary is also nice.

Parking is weird for this one, haha. So, I parked near the screenshot on Google Maps. The top pic in the screenshot is facing the direction where you walk to get to the walkway. Once you find it, in 30 seconds of walking, you'll come to the bridge, 2 mins walk from the bridge you'll reach the waterfall. Be careful when going to the top lookout platform though as there has been a landslide and the stairs and walkway are damaged.

The uploaded photos make it look better than what it is. It’s true that it makes u park in an abandoned carpark with shark debris around and a slippy muddy pathway so I took a few photos and left.

Some paths are closed and blocked by huge tree trunks from the cyclone. Tracks are still a mess since the cyclone in January 2023.

It's fantastic that we have waterfall in an urban area, Love to check it out. There is a peaceful place. I went to the waterfall after the heavy raining day 28/01/2023. Ther is a mud and landslide there, be careful cus it's slippery. At the end of waterfall point view, there is a continue way but it was cut down and the bridge was broken. You can see a timber pieces spread around. Hopefully thenweather get better and they can revocery it.

It's a really good track to walk or run through, I went after days of rain and it was in good condition. Who doesn't love a good waterfall after a serious amount of rain. So nice to get away from the busy roads just by stepping into track and surrounded by trees, water and birds.
