An amazing place for all ages, the infinite views, gannet's colony and the shinning black sand beach offers such refreshing vibe and feel. You can spend whole day there enjoying the views and the feel and won't get bored. Sunset views would be amazing, only it was cloudy so we missed it coz of clouds.
Muriwai Beach is a truly peaceful and serene place, perfect for anyone looking to relax and enjoy nature. The wide open space, calming sound of the waves, and fresh ocean air make it ideal for a quiet walk or some time to unwind. Parking is plentiful and convenient, which makes visiting stress-free. Overall, it’s a beautiful spot that feels calm and unspoiled, well worth a visit.
Muriwai Beach is a breathtaking natural wonder! The rugged black sand, and powerful waves make it a must-visit. Great for walks, photography, and just admiring the scenery. Remember to be careful near the water.
Take a day trip out to the west coast’s Muriwai Beach and experience the huge gannet colony. There are a number of viewing platforms that allow you to get quite close to them. Try and go on a nice clear sunny day to make the most of it.
Such a stunning beach. The black sand is soft and doesn’t stick to you. Stunning views and not a busy beach. The waves are huge and looked very rough. There’s a swimming beach further up where the waves didn’t seem as big and rough. Only 50 minutes from Auckland CBD, definitely highly recommended to experience.
One of my favorite beaches in New Zealand, it’s just so amazing that there are so many gannets living here and having baby.
Gannett birds are only a few during winter season but the beach, hills, & cave in one place is amazing. I'll surely be back when the gannet colony is there
