Very nice walk but steep at times with lots of well constructed stairs, dogs allowed but on leash at all times. Advice to take water, no water stations or toilets. Several point to enter and loop road or same route back. Did the simla entrance one.

Its a long moderately steep climb up through bush to the top, but so worth it for the amazing lookout over Wellington, Hutt and all the way to Porirua. Be aware of the wind at the top, as the lookout is quite exposed. Options to loop back down too. We made it a 3 hour round trip.

Excellent 360° view of Wellington and its surrounds. Make sure you pack wind breaker as it definitely is exposed at the top.

I love this walk. It has a lot of beautiful trees and quite relaxing with native birds tweeting away. It is constantly uphill, a lot of steps. There are benches along the way for a break. It can get muddy if it rains. If you’re active and have alot of energy, you could reach the top in 30mins. There are also loop walks, just follow clark street signs back to simla crescent.

On a great day, one of the easy-moderate walks/hikes. Located within one of the best suburbs in the town - Khandallah, this summit hike offer a walk with varying difficulty. I started from the Simla Crescent train station, in about 45 min or so reached the summit. There are so many more paths to go on from here. I looped back to Khandallah Swimming Pool following signs for Woodman Cote Road. All in all it took me about 1:30-45 min to be back to the starting point. In my next hike, I’m keen to walk on Old Bach, Johnsonville track. I’ll make it a point to go on Skyline Walk as well.

Very busy track through dense forest but way laid with well maintained stairs. Went beyond the summit to the beautiful coastline defined by wind turbines, deep blue water and the mountainnranges ifnthe Marnorough regions. The trail is moderately hard in places but anyone can do it easily.

Great views of Wellington and South Island. The walk is short and kid friendly if they can handle 10 or so flights of stairs. Bring water and and a wind breaker, it's very exposed at the top

Great hike up Wellington City’s highest mountain. It’s a good climb and many steps - but very rewarding...

My favourite suggestion when visiting Wellington. It’s not a hike, more of a walk but is a good workout Once you reach the summit/too. I suggest wearing trainers but to be honest I have done it in jandals once unexpectedly strolling up! It takes 1hour return. You can get the bus to Khandallah Village or train to Khandallah station and the trailhead is five minute walk from there, past Khandallah pool and park. I highly recommend doing this for all visitors to Wellington. On a clear sunny day you can get a beautiful view of all of Wellington region out to the Hutt Valley and to Porirua, you fan also see the South Island. You may sometimes find cows up here too, and you can take your dog up! Beautiful memorial benches are placed and a table if you would like to picnic! There is also a Trig further back if you walk North slightly for a different view of Ohariu Valley and Makara. You can carry on North or West to do the Northern Walkway which is along the ridegline. Anybody can do this walk, worth the view!
