   I mainly came to this restaurant for khaman dhokla. It was delicious. Not only was the dhokla spicy, but it was also sweet. I also really enjoyed the addition of the sev. To drink, I had a masala chai which was aromatic and flavourful. The ambience and service were nice. However, the ordering system was a bit chaotic.

   I visited Shivani’s Restaurant today and was really disappointed with the cleanliness and service. As you can see in the photo, many tables were left uncleared for a long time, with dirty plates, glasses, and leftover food just lying around. It felt very uncomfortable to sit and eat in this environment, even though I tried choosing a table far from the mess. There seemed to be only one staff member taking orders and serving, while no one was taking responsibility for cleaning or maintaining the dining area. This shows poor management and lack of attention to basic hygiene. Because of this experience, I don’t think I would visit again. I really hope the management takes this seriously and improves both cleanliness and staff coordination for future customers.

   I had a very unpleasant experience at Shivani Restaurant recently. I went there to buy 1 kg of motichoor laddus and half a kg of mixed sweets. The lady at the counter behaved quite rudely and unprofessionally. She said the box weighed 1.20 kg and asked if I wanted her to remove one laddu. When I explained that the box itself weighs around 20g, she ignored me and still charged $30.66 for 1 kg of laddus. Honestly, no other sweet shop in Auckland argues over 10–20 grams — but even if that matters to Shivani, basic customer service and politeness should still come first. The way she spoke showed clear attitude and disrespect, which completely ruined my experience. What disappoints me more is that I’ve been an occasional but loyal customer here. The previous staff member — a young man — was always kind, smiling, and professional. That’s one of the reasons I’ve kept returning. I could easily go to another sweets shop nearby, but I chose Shivani because I still remember the day when the owner lady kindly offered me two jalebis to taste — such a lovely gesture that made me feel welcomed. Unfortunately, this recent experience was the exact opposite of that kindness. I hope the management reads this and seriously improves the behavior of their staff. Customers remember respect more than they remember 10 grams of sweets.

   Had dinner at Shivani today. Lovely cozy restaurant, friendly service and good food. We tried masala dosa, rava dosa, naan and vada. The Jelabi was also really good. Food was great. We will be back.

   We usually get the samosa chat, but had a very bad experience this time. The food wasn’t fresh at all. I'm pretty sure it wasn’t freshly prepared and they just heated up the chat that was made at least a couple hours ago. I hope this is a isolated incident and they make sure the quality of food is not degraded/ don’t serve stale food to the customers
