   John was an excellent host and the place was incredible. The views were absolutely epic and we enjoyed visiting the beach and dunes. If you’re looking for a remote area to stay, this is it. It is about an hour from Auckland. I recommend visiting Rotorua, as well as PIha beach if you have the time. So awesome. I’ll probably never be back because I live 16 hours away via airplane but the memories I had were once in a lifetime. Thanks John, I hope to see you one day again. Thank you for all the words of wisdom and keep being awesome! Bethany and Abiel

   Once you get past Swanson the drive here is straight forward . It's worth the journey I must say, we stayed in the cottage and John and Trude made me feel at home John shared us the history of the place and great places to see if you are the adventurous type. But me and my wife just chilled here views are amazing, hot tub you have to do, table tennis and your own outdoor BBQ fire stove with fire wood supplied. Honestly any place that makes you feel at home is awesome, also a wide range of wine available if you didn't get time to get it. Just got engaged and would love to have our wedding here. ✌️

   Very disappointed with stay at the Bethells Beach accommodation. Website very outdated/misleading and the accommodation very expensive for the experience. Have stayed at numerous places for weekend breaks and these have varied in prices from $150 -$240 per night .. we paid $240 per night here and felt very let down. Cleanlines was very poor ... bed had not been changed from previous guests. Bathroom floor filthy Chairs in kitchen so uncomfortable made eating dinner very hard. View we thought we would have from apartment windows had overgrown plants .... Not listed that apartment underneath main house so could hear homeowners moving around while we were relaxing which was very off putting... Had asked for a late check out was informed had to be 11 sharp as others staying in room which we understood on leaving found out no one arriving till following day ...... couldn't understand why the lie.... Not enough shampoo etc to wash one's hair... despite all that was stated on website... fresh flowers again very disappointing.... Only highlight was we found John to be pleasant and welcoming he explained all the great things to do in the area.. even supplied some drinking water as mains not pleasant at present. Unique location yes, romantic and relaxing it should have been ..... but instead left feeling robbed and very let down by the accommodation.

   An amazing experience. The stuff are super nice and kind. One staff offered me a drink and she delivered it. The food was nice. The view was majestic! My only suggestion is the driveway needs bit fixing. Also will need a big signpost at the entry (for some reason my TomTom GPS will pick up 267 Bethells Rd)
